I've heard that you can feed your BD feeder anole lizards. Is that healthy for them?
Just curious

Some People do. I haven't the slightest idea why anyone would want to, but some people do. I don't know how healthy this is for them though..

I think it's cruel. Anoles are living creatures, just as much as dragons, or dogs, or anything else. Many people have them as pet. It's terrible to feed these poor little lizards to the beardies, when they have so many other sources of food. While wormscrickets/roaches are still living creatures, I can't imagine putting a poor anole in at the mercy of my beardies. I can't imagine how people can do that.

I hate to break it to you, but those little crickets, roaches, and worms that you feed to your dragon are just as alive as an anole :p It's like feeding a mouse to a snake. I personally wouldn't do it - there are much healthier alternatives that are much less risky (unlike pinky mice, anoles actually have bones - if fed at the proper age, a pinky mouse will only have unfused cartilage.

You can, but you should not. There are loads of things a beardie WILL eat that it shouldn't.

There is absolutely no reason to.

it is true but to us crickets and other feeders were ment to be eatened the reason you heard this was probably some ***** said hey what happens if i put a anole lizard with a bearded dragon? im sure he got the answer.
then he probably shared it with the world. i wouldnt really feed it to fowlcore. i wouldnt feed a inncent lizard to a bearded dragon that was ment to be a pet and and just feed it. to me its like saying lets feed the lion the worker in the zoo since we dont know what will happen.

Yes, I know that, I said that. I feel bad for the worms and such, but I know my lizards have to eat, and I have much less of a problem feeding those to them, than I would an anole. This was just my opinion on the matter.

If you could get captive bred anoles, raised in captivity, without the risk of parasites, then those would be a potential feeder item, just like pinky mice or hissing roaches.

However, this is rarely the case, and I personally would not recommend feeding one to a beardie. They definitely can carry parasites, and create an unnecessary risk of transmitting them to your beardie.

What does an anole offer that smaller/safer insects don't offer?
Same for pinkies....

Nutritionally they do offer more calories, fat, and a different balance of various vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that a bug won't offer. Sure, you don't *have* to feed them, but something like a pinky or fuzzy offers a great boost to the diet of an egg laying female, or even as an occasional treat for beardies at a good weight.

Since it is pretty much impossible to find a captive bred anole unless you breed it yourself, I'd agree that that's unnecessary. But pinkies and fuzzies are great additions to the diet if the person is comfortable feeding them off! If you don't want to feed pinkies, then don't, but there's no reason NOT to. :)

There are loads of reasons not to.

And also, I am not comparing feeding 1 bug versus feeding 1 pinky. Sure a pinky is going to have more calories and nutrients in it than 1 bug does. But who just feeds 1 bug?

I am talking about feeding a meal of bugs, compared to feeding an anole/pinky.

A meal of bugs offers everything a pinky/anole does but without the risks.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
