Is my Bearded dragon to close to the basking lamp?

Hi quick question- Is this to close or should I put the light up more? The light is UVB 100 watt.

Looks quite close to me. I would check the bulb packaging and see if it says anything on there. I think it needs to be around 6 - 12 inches (someone correct me if I'm wrong), but I am sure your beardie will move depending on heat but 100W is quite intense. I would say lower the perch a few inches and see how your Beardie reacts.

Which model is it? Is it a Mercury Vapor bulb? If so, it needs to be kept at a precise distance to provide proper UVB levels. Additional lighting may be needed to get the heat to the appropriate levels. The minimum is usually 10-12'' from the basking site though. Closer can be pretty intense and dangerous.

OK. Those are just heat/light lamps. It shouldn't be closer than about 10 inches or so in my opinion in order to prevent burns and not be quite so intense in terms of brightness. Aside from that, you'll want to adjust the height/wattage so you can get 100-110 in the basking area, with some 90s around that, and a gradient down to about 75-80 on the cool side.

In addition to that bulb, you'll need a good UVB bulb. That should be mounted on the basking side as well so the lighting includes intense UVB the way sunlight would. How big is your tank? What are the dimensions? I'll be glad to help you find a good UVB light that is appropriate for your tank size.
