hes about 6 months old, so i dont know if hes the right size for 6 months. we got him in january (early) but dont know exactly when he was born!

Its hard to judge his size from those pics, how long is he? He looks good, personally I don't worry too much about size unless they are severely stunted.
How much and what are you feeding?

Will he eat insects more then twice a day? Maybe try feeding more often and see if that helps.

The reptisun can be pretty expensive in pet stores, most people order them from petmountain.com. Get a thermometer soon as you can, if its too cool in his cage, he won't eat as much as he should. You can get cheap ones from walmart for around $12
