We have two bearded dragons. They are under a year old The both went from not wanting to be with me to
grabbing my arm like a baby when they get stuck back in their tank. I tried to hold them for a few seconds every day. I never thought they would calm down but it does happen over time. They went from not wanting to
hang with us to not wanting to be in their enclosure.

I got mine in October Dixie she is like 8 months old Boucher is almost 1 They are opposites. I never thought she liked me she looked at me like leave me alone. I used to sit with her on my lap on the floor on a blanket or hold her in the tank on my hand or sit in a chair. All of a sudden she went from being with us for a few sconds to hanging for hours. It took 3-5 months. I used to put her in a contaner no lid and have her sit on my lap because she would jump alot. My boyfriend used to call her a stealth dragon as soon as I would open her tank she would hide and peekout of her log to keep an eye on me . I used to act like it was a game,The first time she snuggled in my lap I melted It was a first. I sat like that a long time because it was a first . Boucher always liked me Just keep trying slowly even if it is for 5 times a day for few minutes. I never thought i could love them.i have never owned one so this was alll new to me too. She likes to sit on the back of my sofa while i am sitting there.

Wow, what meemaw wrote really is an inspiration...it even motivates me! My boy accepts me, but hasn't gotten to the point where he will willingly jump onto me, but we are getting there.
If your beardie is running from you (Cinder still does this if he doesn't feel like being picked up), work your way up from petting. Get your baby used to the presence of your hands close by. Offer salad and food, pet very slowly, and above all, have patience and be persistent. It may take a while (up to months) but they will eventually get used to you. Baby beardies are known for their fast movements, excess of energy, skydiving episodes and jumpiness, but with age and regular handling, they will grow calm and let you handle them . A beardie's true cuddliness and personality dosn't seem to show until they are sub-adults, so don't get discouraged. Don't give up! Once your baby comes out of its shell, you will find the effort was well worth it!

Aww thanks guys! Your really helping me. Whenever I am changing water/ salad or putting bugs in etc. i always stroke him and he doesnt run away. Is this a good sign? Im cleaning his tank today so wat shall i do while hes in the containor? (my dad cleans tank while i watch him) shall i let him roam around or waht? He is also getting a few burns but i dont know what to do/how to turn heat down as im only 11 lol

ha-ha, definatly shut the toilet, and i put something on top if it too like a towel or soemthing... phoenix has jumped into the toilet before, it was funny!! but it scares them so bad and then they fight with you so its not good,lol. How bad are the burns? Where are they?

lol thats what i plan to do. Awww i hope speed wont jump in like Phoenix :lol:
The burns:
There are about 3,
One of them is a red dot (foot),
One of them is just about 6 scales gone brown (stomach)
and the other is about 8 scales gone quite black (foot again and same one)
His feet and hands are also quite pink/red

a vet visit wouldnt be a bad idea, they could get you an antiobiotic ointment to keep it clean so it doesnt get infected.
