How long in the bath?

I have been giving my beardie baths in his little piggy bowl, the tub is apparently too big and frightening for him. How long should he be in the bath on average? I don't want to give him too long of a bath or too short.

You can give them a bath as long as you want,usually 15-20 minutes is a good length,they soak up a lot of water when there in the bath and this is good to fight dehydration and keep them healthy so you can leave them in there as long as you want,unfortunatley the water will get cold eventually so either replace it or take them out,hope this helps , my beardie loves the big bath tub,lots of room to swim which is good excersise so don't be afraid to let them swim!

Luke warm,i tend to heat mine up a little warmer so that it stays warmer longer,you don't want it to be to hot,and your beardie will most likely flare up if it's to hot

Warmer water, i put him in until it cools down

Test the water by the inside of your wrist, should be warm but not cold or hot.

So if my beardie's body is getting all round and puffy that means the water is too warm?

Sometimes they actually puff up and float in the water but it doesn't necessarily mean that it is too hot or they don't like it. Like I mentioned, test the water by the inside of your wrist, it should not be hot or cold.

I do my water warm.. a warmer than luke warm but by no means ever use hot! Mine will stay in there for 40 minutes. They all love their baths. Of course I have to keep adding warm water to it.

After Percy's bath I picked him up and he was practically inflated like a balloon! I heard that they sometimes do that...why do they? :dontknow:

All mine do that.. It's totally normal. They turn themselves into a inflation device.

I don't know what more experienced owners do, but I use an aquarium thermometer in my dragons' baths to make sure the temp is right. They only cost about $5, and I figure that since they're designed to be accurate in water, it's safer than guessing. I put the dragon in when the water is about 90, then when it gets done to 80 (or they poop) I take them out. Usually about 20-30 minutes.
I have discovered that the more adventurous of the two enjoys getting his back sprayed with a shower attachment. At the end of bath time, I turn a warm shower spray on and he deliberately swims under it. I make sure it only gets his back and tail, cos I don't want any water in his ears. But it's the cutest thing, and he's absolutely doing it on purpose.
