so dexters highest point in his viv allows him to be in 130f basking temps.
His normal backing spot is around 110 but he likes the hotter temps too. The main problem im having is i have 3 diff light fixtures only one can get his spot over 100 the other two using the same bulb, only get the highest point to 99.8. is it dangerous that he can be inder those temps. The enclosure temp is within normal its just that one spot. any help is welcome!
Thanks,
Zero

depends if its like a log or something that he can climb to the tippy top. you would have to share more age, maybe like a pic of your setup. ill help if you can provide those. normally id say no. but as long as all your temps are in check. a basking spot is anything above 95, they need that to digest and it really only has to hit 95 for maybe 4 hours. so when it comes to temps my little one has even at the highest a spot of 106-107 and he rarely sits at the temp usually he sits around 102 or 103. my 11 month old likes it about 98. he will occasionally sit at the 103 104 spot. but will usually migrate to the cold side after only an hour or so.

He is on a log. There is a video on my other post about mounting light inside enclosure. He likes the 100-110 spot best.

watched the video... first off get a digital thermometer cause the temps you are giving are meaningless. not trying to be rude or anything, just trying to help. let me know when you get it. feel free to email me it goes straight to my phone [email protected] i realize how frustrating all this stuff can be.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
