I just realized I have a reptisun 5.0. I am going to petco tonight. So if I am not mistaken, the only lights I need are a 10.0 reptisun and a regular light?

Reptisun 10.0 Fluorescent TUBE, not coil/compact (and most pet stores do not carry this light), and a regular household incandescent bulb are the only ones you need, yes.

I already told you that you can't use CFL's.

Anyways, CFL's produce very very little heat.

Hi Liam....you can also use just the Powersun 100, it produces both heat and UVB. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's recommendation on distance, I believe it's 10 - 12 ". No red light and no compact. He may be acting sick because of eating too many mealworms , sometimes it will impact them, but sometimes they just don't want crickets because they prefer the mealies once they've had a taste of them. If he did eat too many of them he may even vomit. It also may be that he's eaten a cricket that was too large. From now on offer onlt the size that the other posters mentioned....no longer than the length between his eyes. If you suspect impaction, give him a bit of applesauce , veg. oil or canned pumpkin along with a shallow lukewarm soak. Stay with him to be sure he doesn't drown, and you can dribble a bit of water on his nose to see if he'll drink. Hopefully it's just an upset tummy.

The 100 watt should be fine as long as it's not an enclosed tank....screened lids allow excess heat to escape and whether it's a 29 long or tall it should be fine if it's mainly on one side and there are several basking levels.

Yes, the Powersun produces heat, bright light and UVB.

Could I just use a basking light and a reptisun 10.0? Also, would I have to get a new wattage if I get a fourty gallon tank?

Yes, that was the other option mentioned by the other posters. And once you transfer to a larger tank you just have to experiment with whatever watt basking bulb you might need to produce the right temps. You can even use a common housebulb like a 75 -100 watt that produces heat for a basking bulb, lots of people do. But don't throw the Powersun away, it's a good UVB bulb. Keep it for when the other bulbs are no longer producing UVB [ sometime after 6 months ]

My basking light(100 watt) is only producing an 80 degree temp? It is about 10 inches from basking spot

What are you using as the 100 watt basking bulb, is it a Reptile bulb, house bulb or is it the Powersun MVB that you mentioned earlier ? Whenever you can't get the temp. high enough, just get an extra light fixture, like from Wal mart, Home Depot, etc, [ cost about $ 8 - $10 for an aluminum one ] and put that next to the other bulb. Is your fixture the black dome with white inside ? They don't reflect anywhere near the amount of heat as the aluminum ones do.
