Getting a girl to stick with my male?

I am going to be getting a girl and sticking it with my male in the same tank so they can grow up together and get used to each other. Is that a good idea? They are both babies.

No, not a good idea. Bearded Dragons are very territorial and should NOT be housed together, they will usually end up fighting each other or one dragon becoming the dominate one and hoarding resources (basking spot, food, etc.) or the two dragons if different sexes continually mating and exhausting themselves. Better if you are planning to get another to give them both separate enclosures.

I plan on getting another enclosure for the girl after a couple of months but I think they might be fine for now since they are babies.

I would highly recommend not putting them together, even as babies.

They are showcased at petstores like this but this does not mean it is ideal. Some babies are in rearing tubs together, but if you intend to get another enclosure in the future, it is never too soon to separate them, and there is no benefit to them "growing up together." They are not social creatures would not gain anything from being trapped together. The only thing this will cause is stress for you and the dragons.

Then why not make it before you get her. Even if you do get another dragon, as a baby there are no guarantees that you will get a female anyway (50/50). Unless your dragon is old enough to sex with a flashlight, there is no guarantee that it is a male as well.

Siblings can sometimes be housed together for short periods but, I think it would be unwise to attempt what you are thinking. The new one will either perish from lack of uvb,basking heat and diet or be mutilated by the already established ruler of the viv! Either way the new one loses. Sorry to be so blunt but the attacks are quick and brutal, leaving nasty wounds or even ending in death. In the end it is your choice, but I don't want to see yours or anyone else's dragon injured or killed because someone ignores the facts.

UVB is not necessary all the time but I will keep it all in mind.

Are you serious?? Who told you that, whoever said it was sadly mistaken.
The only time they don't need it is at night! UVB is critical for good health.

I really hope the OP is just trolling, because that uvb comment is probably the worst advice I've ever heard.

OP, if you are legit, I urge you to do your research from trustworthy sources, ie this forum, before going any further with these poor dragons. Wanting to house two dragons together with no uvb is inhumane torture.

Hello,

As suggested, placing two together is normally NOT a good idea or recommended.
If you are truly needing help with housing questions, etc, then we highly suggest using a good UVB light source. They will not survive long without one.
Is this advice you received from a pet store or from a friend?
