I have a 10 week old beardie, which is currently feeding on crickets only. I now want to introduce vegetables into his diet, but I'm not quite sure which are the best to start him on, and in what quantity? Can anyone offer any advice on the best way to start him on veg?

Thanks! Bob.

This site is great for lists of good/bad veg http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.com/Nutrition.html

I feed mine spring greens as the staple, mixed with either watercress or rocket then i add a different variety each week e.g. butternut squash, apple, bell pepper, raspberries, tomatoe, cucumber...

Make sure you chop the pieces up finely. Dont worry about putting too much in, chances are he wont eat it all, maybe just a couple of munches- you can't overfeed salad

To get him to eat it, try handfeeding or putting the live food in his veg (or even wrapping veg around live food). Make sure the salad is colourful with smelly fruit/veg to entice him to it

Offer veggies first thing in the AM before any crickets or other protein source. Drop a few phoenix worms in there to create some interest and help the beardie understand that veggies are food too!

Base salad should be greens such as collard, chard, or mustard. No lettuce.
Color it up with add'l veggies such as butternut squash.
Couple times a week offer some fruit. Mine loves Mango.

Check out this site for a guide on what to feed and not to feed...some veggies can be toxic for them. Some should only be fed once in a while. Greens should be offered every day.

I used a light dressing of a fruity baby food (stage 1 apple) and mixed with some water to create a nice dressing for the salad. It helped her smell it out and she started to eat it. Remember to chop it well so she does not have a problem eating it. Good luck they can be picky sometimes. Try all the ideas and let us know how it is coming along!!

Thanks for the advice. I am starting him on some greens, and will add some calciworms to the mix to try and get him interested!

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
