falkor's story

so, i thought i'd go ahead and start up an ongoing thread for falkor. if you're interested in reading about his beginnings and the mini adventure i've gone through trying to right the wrongs of the pet store, check out my introduction thread here - viewtopic.php?f=44&t=131036&start=0. either way, i'm going to go ahead and repost the pictures from that thread and continue to add to them


the day i brought him home along with his original setup:

his current setup (the middle is a little dirty from calcium dust - time to clean the carpet)

almost looks like it could have been take outside - well, except for that black cord ;-)

here's a funny shot i took the other night of him sleeping. he normally sleeps up on his branch, but on this particular night, he didn't quite make it before falling asleep :-D

i just bought some slate tile tonight and i have it all ready to go in. that'll happen as soon as i get out of work tomorrow. count on some more pictures then. i'm so excited - i think it'll look really cool :-D

Aw! I just love her she is so cute. Forever Towel is so funny!
I love the ways they sleep too. When I first brought Falkor home the next morning my Husband woke me up and was all worried. He said he didn't think Falkor made it through the night. I freaked out and ran downstairs and there was Falkor sleeping very soundly standing up in the corner of his tank up against the glass. He's too big to do that anymore, now he just sleeps all pancaked out on the bottom of his tank. Come to think of it, his hammock and new rock hideout should be here today!!

thanks! i went through the same thing when i first saw falkor sleeping weird. then i came on here and saw how many other people's dragons slept weird and that calmed me down i bet you're super excited to get the new toys :-D

ahhh shes getting so big!! and so beautiful!! i finally can see the pictures!!lol!! gosh i've missed so much! its obvious that baby girl loves her daddy!!! i love those pics of her resting on your arm with her froggy!! precious!!! :mrgreen: i cant wiat to see more pics

The new toys just arrived! He's not too sure of the hammock yet, but he isn't head bobbing at it so that's a good sign.

wait until he gets in it ONE TIME oh man you'll never get him back out lol! phoenix loved his hammock but he got a weeee bit too wide / heavy for it lol, so i guess when i build their vivs in a few months i'll have to make him a hammock that will hold him lol

oh, also vile nasty and PSYCH! mode. what he does is if we bring one of our dragons over to his cage, he beards, waves a bit, and the ATTACKS!!! mouth open, full beard...

we are studying autumn olive, zebra mussels, some sort of pricker bush, and one of our choice. mine is the cactus moth, it eats prickly pear cacti how DARE you eat my dragon's food! we are going to be manually pulling the autumn olive and talking with a park ranger.

Yours should like it too. You may have to encourge him?her to get in it the first time or two, but after that they may only come out for food!

Huh... never thought of ferret hammocks before. Gem would like that!

I made my girlies' hammocks out of that plastic criss-crossed stuff used for cross stitching or whatever. For $.50, I can get a really big piece.

I also experimented awhile back... Reggie had this funky hammock made out of a red lace doily (sp) with two wooden skewer thingies on the ends... I glued some twine on the ends of the sticks and then looped it on a hooked suction cup. However, it wasn't very sturdy! :lol: Reg loved the thing, but he couldn't stay on for over a half hour for the life of him! Classic tumbling-out-of-the-hammock.

Anyway, Falkor is really cute. I'll add this to my ever-growing lists of threads I must continue to check up on. :roll:
