Hello,

This MVB is pretty decent. There has only been a couple of people say that they did not like it. The UVB meter tests reveal that it is safe & has roughly 125uWcm2 at 12 inches which is pretty good. It should last around 8 months or so.

I have heard some people say that they burn out quickly, but I have never tried one.

If you decide to order that bulb, make sure you have either a temperature gun or a digital thermometer with a long wire & probe end. Since MVB's throw out more heat than a regular basking bulb, it's extremely more important to know what the temps actually are. A good thermometer is a necessity for every tank set up. What size tank do you have as MVB's shouldn't be used in a tank any smaller than a 40 gallon.

I have heard that the SolarGlo lights don't give off as much heat as some other MVB lights. If that is true, then a smaller tank might be OK. I don't know first hand though. If someone here has used one and can confirm, that would be great. I have a 29 Gallon tank and was considering getting one.

we have used it since may with one of our dragons, with no problems. his temps are fine (we do have a reg. tube light not for heat just to brighten the tank) his tank is 4'x2'x2'. *one thing we learned during tornado season though, if the power flickers out, this bulb has a safety feature that doesn't allow it to turn back on until it is completely cooled down....we thought our surge protector was faulty or some thing

The Solar Glo comes in 125 watt and 160 watt. I was wondering why the smaller one is 125 when most of the others offer a 100 watt and went to their website to read this ... "Exo Terra refrained from developing lower wattages as lower wattages simply do not generate enough heat for these self-ballasted bulbs to work properly, making them unstable and unreliable". I tried to find a warranty but no luck. The bulb itself looks similar to the Power Sun with the smooth surface where the other MVB's have the heavier spot light lens. For the price, I'll try one, I wanted a spare to bring to work. After I let it burn in, I'll compare temps and see how it compares.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
