Hi Karen!!!!

Yea!!! :D :D He's here!!! He's beautiful and looks VERY big from the pic!!

Is your son excited? I took my son out tonight to look at Geckos. He wasn't at all interested but I think I picked one out for myself...

What's it like getting a dragon in the mail? Are they alert? Cold?

Details...details...I want to hear everything!!

It was too cool. I posted the video of the ups guy on here. its funny. :laughing6:

It was scary too though. When we opened the box he was in a little clear plastc round box, like you get cookies in at the store at the bakery, know what I mean? he looked dead!! I took him out and put him in a warm bath and he perked right up! I mean really, how would we feel if someone put us in a little round cookie box with air holes and put us on a truck that took us to the airport and then we're on a plane to another airport and then put on another truck to some strangers in a strange land.

My son has been on cloud nine today. I took some picture of him waiting for Elvis, 10:00 this morning. He spent 30 mintues on his scooter going back and forth in front of the house. Then, he ate cookies and milk sitting on the front porch.

It took me an hour to talk Zane into going to the park to play some basketball. He didn'twant to leave, but I thought it'd be good for Elvis to have some alone time.

When we got home, Zane took him out, wrapped hi in a blanket and sat in a big 6'x2' box with him. (the box that the viv came in) they cuddled until it looked like Elvis was going to sleep. I can't believe how docile and tame this guy is. He isn't nervous at all.
But now, he's eaten about 20 or 30 crickets, about 10 phoenix worms and he's been basking at around 107 degrees. He's sleeping now, lights out at 8:30. Up at 6:30 am

I forgot to add that we spent all day watching him! It was all I could do to keep Zane from taking him out every ten minutes but I convenced him he needed some downtime. Then we watched him until lunch. Then fixed sandwiches and ate in Zanes room with Elvis Who had collard green salad topped with moistened Repcal pellets. I don't think he ate much of it. Then more crickets and phoenix worms Zane ended up falling asleep watching him and took an hour nap. Woke up, we watched Elvis again, fed him again. It's so strange how we can just sit and watch him!

I emailed pics to my mom! She said she has a new grandson!!!!!

I think you mentioned that you got Elvis from Russ (crazyhorse526/www.crossfiredragons.com) in another thread, correct?

The reason I ask is because you said you cannot believe how docile Elvis is.. well.. that is how all of Russ' babies are! That is why he is my favorite breeder.. well.. that and he has just become a great friend. When Russ shipped our first baby out, back in late March.. I was so scared about having a dragon shipped! I stayed up until 4am tracking Gaper's package across the US and then was up at 9 to await the arrival of his package. I opened up Gaper's deli cup and he was a bit cold but perked right up as soon as he saw me and then we put him in the bath and the rest is history.

I will say that Mothra is MUCH MORE alert and active then Gaper was. Gaper did go through a bit of relocation stress but not Mothra. This guy is eating like a HOG! He's going to eat me out of house and home if I don't watch it.

ODE, you want to know what it looks like to open up a dragons box? Well, here you go! When Russ shipped Gaper out, I made him snap a picture of Gaper in his box so he could send it to me. Mothra wasn't actually shipped in a deli cup.. he was too big LOL. Mothra had to be shipped in one of Russ' kids' old shoe boxes and was almost even too big for that!

Oh My Gosh! :love5:

I can't believe they can make it through the trip...

No heat, no light, no food? I get worried when Ernie sits in the window too long and gets cold or dark. I guess they are tougher than they look.

Ok...Karen, we need more pictures today! :blob5:

Has anyone even gotten a Gecko through the mail? I like our little local pet store that we purchased Ernie from. But yesterday I went in there to look at Geckos and they had baby Beardies in. These poor little things were maybe three inches head to tail!! I've never seen anything so small. They were much smaller than the anoles. They also had baby Geckos but I wondered if they were too small also. Everything was running around looking pretty healthy but this is also the same store that I had to explain basking temps and UVB. I noticed they had added a UVB light over the beardies but the Geckos were dry...VERY DRY! Their hides and their water dish was completely empty and several were laying in the one drop of water that was left in the dish.

Sorry to ramble...

I just want to find out more about your "delivery"... :D

Update us...I've been so excited for you and your son!!

Hey stumpysowner, no hijack here! I'm glad for the info. I'm so glad you got a pic of the "packaged dragon" I couldn't video and open the box at the same time so I didn't get it on film as I wanted to. I wanted a part two to the ups delivery. But then after we opened up the box, we were just too enthralled with Elvis to remember more video!

Now this you are not going to believe: Its right out of the twilight zone and I forgot to post it yesterday. Zane and I are sitting on the bed, watching Elvis. Zane says to me "Mom will Elvis ever wave to us? Like the ones on the computer did?" (I showed him videos.) I said "I'm not sure, I think that may be more of a girl dragon thing, waving to her boyfriend. I can't be sure. " So we went back to watching Elvis, and I swear I am not making this up, Elvis waved, his left foot came up and he really waved, very slowly, as if he heard us talking about him. We sat on Zane's bed with our mouths open, and then looked at each other with big eyes. Then we fell over laughing. :laughing6: Zane is still freaking out about it.

My husband came home last night from out of town and took one look at Elvis and said "I don't do Lizards". We tryed to get him to pet Elvis, but he's not going anywhere near him :( But I'll bet money in six months they are hanging out together.

As for Geckos, I know nothing about them. I would have to do some reading. They're cute though!!! Not as cute as Elvis, though.

I'll post some new pics today, my internet is spotty, Roadrunner cable problems all weekend.

Heehee...

Your husband will come around. Mine doesn't particularly care for Ernie either. Yesterday my husband was working at the counter on his computer. I took Ernie out of her tank and put her on the counter on a magazine. The magazine had pictures of leaves and insects on it. Ernie spent a good 10 minutes trying to "dig" up the leaves and insects and then he ran over my husband's computer and up his arm. My husband's shoulder was the only sunny spot in the house (it's been super windy and cloudy here) so Ernie stayed there sunning herself for a good 10 minutes. I was finally called back into the room to "remove this lizard". My husband was too afraid to move and knock her to the floor that he stopped his work until he thought she'd had enough sun and then he called me!!

So...he'll come around. I don't think they can help it when they see these cute little scaley things that act like miniature dogs!!

They are A LOT tougher then they look. In the winter time, they DO have heat packs from breeders. Gaper had one, Mothra didn't. All they do is sleep. It's a pretty short trip, realatively speaking too. They aren't even in the box for 18 hours. It's just like a long nights sleep.

It kinda puts things into perspective, eh?

Thanks he does have great colors! And for the record, I'm getting rid of the rocks. I'm not having anything in the "kings" viv that looks like potatoes . I thought they were nice lookin smooth rocks and Elvis seems to like them, but if they look like funny lookin potatoes then they have to go!

Oh Yay!!!! You got elvis!! I read your previous post when you were just waiting!! Is'nt it great when They finally arrive!! I was so worried when Keirra was shipped. It had been like 85-90F until the day she was supposed to arrive and I wake up that morning and it is 50F outside! I was sooo worried she would be cold but nope! SHe had a heat pack in with her and she was actually quite warm! I still have her container she came in and bought a digital camera just for the Arrival day!! If I had a video camera I would have been taping the ups man too!!!

I love his colors and am gonna have to go find that video you posted! I have been somewhat slacking on checking new posts lately, but am sooooo glad to hear your baby (ok I know he's not exactly a baby) has arrived and is safe & sound in loving arms!

oh and your husband will come around one day! How can you not love the little guys!! :love5: :love5:

It was really funny waiting on the ups guy. But then I just got so excited with Elvis, that I forgot to continue to video tape. Thank goodness Stumpysowner had pics of his. Elvis looked just like that in his little... cookie container". Whatever you call it!!!!

I really am amazed at how sweet and calm he is. I mean, I have read a zillion posts about beardies, but you really don't believe it until you experience it in person. I just keep thinking, "It's a reptile, stop wondering what he's thinking". But I think Russ @ Crossfire spoiled him rotten and now he's going to be hard to live with! Also we're having a little relocation stress due to the fact that Russ says Elvis has an aversion to Dallas Cowboy memorabilia. Being from Texas, Zane has a few Cowboy things in his room. But Elvis only likes the Eagles. :puke: Russ says we should take down anything to do with the Cowboys. :dontknow: I mean, we're talking about America's Team, I mean Gods Team. What's up with that? I though everyone loved the Cowboys.........

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
