Good morning!

I haven't been camping in about 5 years, and I'm doing a long weekend Friday to Sunday with some friends. It'll be short and sweet, and not having to worry about Doyle means I can relax :)

Here he is with a full belly last night. His eyes are closed, but for some reason the pic makes them look open

Thanks Miss T! He is doing so much better now that he's getting some food and all the gunk out of his tummy. He's getting flushed out! He poo'd in his sleep last night - it STUNK. Of course he got a bath first this morning which he was not happy about. He got all blackbearded at me and scowled in the tub - even his side bars and the tip of his tail were dark. He poo'd a little bit more in the tub, and then again once I got him on his rock after breakfast. I gave him some Carnivore Care mixed with some squash baby food and got about 8 mLs in him before he decided he was done. After The 3rd poo was very runny - probably from the meds and all the baby food and mushy food he has been given. His eyes are FINALLY really starting to look so much better to me. The shed on his head is doing better. It's around his eyes that worry me since it seems like he has some retained stuff there. I don't dare put any aloe vera near his eyes though, which means he's just going to get more baths :D

Here he is this morning - the swelling around his eyes is MUCH better, and the droopiness is starting to get better.

Thanks again everyone for the thoughts and encouragement. It means so much to both of us!

Wow! His actual eyes just get more and more alert!

Hes probably pooping so much since he got such a nice full tummy at the vet!

I dont know if your up for this but, Kazi got sick towards the end of his shed and he had some shed around his eyes and nose. He has no energy to rub them to get the shed off so I soaked a q-tip in water and gently dabbed the skin around those areas as I couldnt put any aloe vera there - after about 3 days the shed started to loosen and popped off when I dabbed it! Just be careful that you dont rub it tho. It really helped Kazi out. Today was the first time in 2 weeks that I saw him attempt to get the last remaining piece of shed off his eyelash (I couldnt go in there to help him out!!)

So glad to see that he's doing better. He does look much improved, and I hope the progress continues and the treatment can help his eye. Keep up the good work.

You guys are wonderful! I hope we can flush all of the junk out of his system. It was more roach shells this morning. That has to be so uncomfortable to pass!

I have been trying to catch up with Kazi's story. He has been through quite a bit! I really do appreciate having your input in ways to help him feel better. It makes me feel so much better knowing that Kazi has done so well.

I won't be home tonight until after lights out. I think I'll just let him rest and not try to feed him again tonight. However if he's poo'd all over the place again he's getting another bath whether he likes it or not

Hehe, kazis story is a long one!!! I posted a 'summary' around pg65 for anyone just stepping in now! He has a respiratory infection now on top of everything else- poor wee mite- his immune system just can't fight anything on it's own. I just have to do what I can to make him comfortable.

If Doyle has made a mess and you need to bath him, make sure u warm him up again so he doesn't get a resp infection- either an hour or so under the basking light or else put him on a hot water bottle (wrapped in a towel).

You are doing amazing things with Kazi. It's inspiring!

Doyle is doing OK this morning. The swelling in his eyes is sooooo much better. The lids around his eyes aren't as droopy either. I'm sorry I don't have a picture of him this morning. I figured he needed a break from me shoving a camera in his face. He's still blackbearding :( I don't blame him though after yesterday. When I got home he has poo'd 3 or 4 times and all there was were bits of roaches. I swear there were enough shells to make 2 whole hissing cockroaches. It had to be so uncomfortable! He poo'd again this morning but it was mostly just urate and a small piece of shell. I'm hoping that means his tummy is getting cleaned out. Breakfast got about 11 mLs of Carnivore Care mixed with a little bit of squash baby food in him.

Wow! His eyes are like night and day, from the first pic till now. He would not be improving at all if not for you, so remember to keep that in mind through these tough days.

His system will surely notice the difference without all that shell in him! We can only imagine how good it feels for his stomach to digest the babyfood under the proper basking light...I read that it just takes so much more time for these guys to recover.

Will be sending good thoughts and happy wishes for you on the camping trip and that Doyle's eyes are even a bit better when you get back!

Thats great that you are starting to see the difference too! Hehe - they all get a bit tired of the camera from time to time.
Im glad his body is getting rid of all of those nasty shells - hopefully there wont be too many more of those! Thats a super amount of carnivore care too! Im getting about 8ml of the critical care into Kazi everyday - its irritating tho as little bits keep sticking in the syringe and then he gets frustrated that he has to wait for more!

I hope you have a lovely weekend away - im sure you will see a big difference in Doyles eyes when you get back - just make sure the staff know his routine and dont be afraid to write it down for their reference :D

Keep up the great work - you are certainly a super beardie slave already! hehe!

I am very sorry to report that Doyle has passed away. I got home from work today and he was sprawled on the bottom of his viv, very dark, mouth gaping, eyes closed. I cried. I'm still crying. I don't know what happened...The temps in his viv were spot on, he was taking his food well. I tried so hard to help him get healthy and all I did was kill him. It's a horrible feeling. I can't help but think he would still be alive if I hadn't attempted to 'rescue' him.

His blood results came back today - everything looked good. Nothing was out of range. I'm still hoping to get the results of the fungal culture back. I want to know what was wrong with him. I'm going to sterilize everything with bleach and let it dry out so when find another beardie I can have the things I need for him or her.

Thank you very much. I know I did all I could. He was not healthy, and most likely not feeling well at all during this time. At least he is no longer in pain.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
