Ha ha... my boy Kraken... has turned out to be a female. I'd been checking constantly... hoping I may be wrong... but nope - no mistaking that one bump. So what to tell the kids (both my sons are his owners - I'm caregiver). Kraken is now 9 months old, and we've been saying "good boy" for so long now, that we've decided to stick with the boy stuff until the first egg arrives (which may be never!), and we'll deal with it then. We loved the name, and hated to change it. He really doesn't seem to care what we call him (her) as long as he gets all the attention!!
Our advise, just go with your gut - as long as a dragon is happy/healthy - we're all happy right?
(side note: the guy at our pet store who babysits Kraken when we're away chuckled when I was calling Kraken a he. He said "you do know this is a girl don't you?", I said "ya sure!" - then he chuckled again and said "ya, my boy's a girl too"!!
Good luck!!
