Collard greens

I am about to get my new beardie, and wanted to know at what stores like kroger or what can i get collard greens, or are they like a seasonal thing?

Collard greens are year round. I don't know what kind of store Kroger is. Is it an organic store or something? I just get mine from stores like Stop and Shop and Big Y.

Kroger will have them as well as other good greens. Even our rural Kroger has them, the ones in the city have better selection (cactus and dandelion).

Ok great thanks. Wow, I have never meet someone who hasn't hear of Kroger! I guess you learn new things everyday. Are mustard greens just as good?

The dark leafy greens all have pros and cons. I try to rotate them around, buying a different one each week. They are all pretty close in price here.
I rotate with Collards, kale, bok choy, endive, mustard and turnip greens if they have them. depends on what I got last week and what looks freshest or is on sale.

It's one of the subjects that had a lot of differing opinions. All the leafy greens are pretty closely related actually. So the things that aren't "good" sort of run in the family so to speak. I like to use and recommend as much variety as will get eaten (mine won't eat endive for example). It helps limit the less favorable things and improve exposure to good things.

Here is a good site http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html. Collard greens can be found pretty much at any natural/organic food store or most major grocery stores. I feed Harley collard greens, dandelion greens, mustard greens and butternut squash and cactus pads here and there. About the only thing she will eat all the time are collard greens. The rest is hit or miss with her. Any of those greens are good staple and collard is a very good staple as it is very high in calcium to begin with. And if you are getting a baby, be prepared for an eating machine. Harley used to go through about 1200+ dubia roaches a month when she was a baby. Now that she is a sub adult, she prefers greens over bugs most of the time.

the beautiful dragons sheet is great! i cannot find dandelion greens anywhere, though. i got the collards, chopped them into little tiny pieces. yes, i have heard they are bottomless pits when they are little.

I found dandelion greens at my local PCC natural food market. Check farmers markets or natural food stores.

Yea. It's called PCC up here in Washington state.

Lol our Gizmo eats veggies from PCC too! He/she loves mustard green the most. We also offer collard and kale. We have tried small bits if Apple and carrot too but Gizmo usually picks the greens out and ignores the rest. Our little guy is about 2 months old and just really started pigging out eating 30 or more crickets a day plus greens.
