Worms with Dad by katiebread, on Flickr

Meet Clovis! Clovis came to our vet tech from a owner who did not care for him well. He is missing the tip of his tail and 2 of his toes. However, you can see he is quite the handsome boy; look at that orange on his face! We have 3 1/2 containers of extra-small phoenix worms left from our baby Bowser, who we had to put to sleep. Clovis will finish off these guys and we'll order bigger ones next time. This paper towel contained maybe 10-15 worms, which Clovis delicately picked off one by one.

Clovis tried to eat the camera right after this by katiebread, on Flickr

Clovis is definitely the stomach on legs that I hoped Bowser would one day become. I think he wanted to eat my camera flash, so I turned it off and took turns with my husband feeding him kale. He gobbled it all up!

Mah Stick by katiebread, on Flickr

Clovis came with a tank, his stick, his favorite bowl, the reptile carpet, a clamp light, and a heating pad. Wow! Tomorrow I'm going to give his viv a good cleaning and put in his UVB light. The carpet provides good insulation from the heating pad, so I'll keep it in there for now. I want to get a temp gun to get the temps right so I don't have to mess with probes. The meat thermometer I have right now hates me, and the feeling is mutual.

I want to come back ou-ut! by katiebread, on Flickr

The downside to the fun of feeding a beardie who was excited to eat was that we needed to let him bask so he could digest his good noms! Clovis was not pleased and ran all around his viv, trying to climb out. After 45-60 minutes I took him out for snuggling and floor time. He ran all over living room and kitchen, and scrabbled in protest when he was prevented from going under furniture or getting into mischief. He ended up falling asleep under my hair, even wiggling up to get in a better snuggle position. As a bonus, I didn't see too many stress marks on him while he was exploring! There were some faint black lines on his beard and belly but nothing like Bowser had, poor little guy.

I will update with pics of his viv once we have it set up properly, but we had a lovely first evening with our new boy and can't wait to play with him tomorrow! I bet he is already dreaming of worms and salads.

Clovis shed his back and tummy all in one piece last week. Here he is showing off his new scales!

Ballerina Leg by katiebread, on Flickr

Snapped just this evening, giving a sexy-leg. You can see his opera glove on his front leg that speaks of more shedding to come.

I love the picture with his toe pointed straight at the ground... he's definitely got the sexy leg position down pat!
The pic with the christmas lights is super cute too :) It's a great wish to have beardies under the tree! (or in it in my house at least! )

His Majesty is currently miffed at his silly hoo-man for not bringing enough worms for the duration of Christmas travels, and being offered babyfood today and tomorrow untill said hoo-mans can get to a pet store. However, His Highness has been given the run of the bathroom with a heat light handy, which he really likes. Pictures when we get home. Chow!

Nice Setup! by katiebread, on Flickr

While at my parents' house for the holidays, I blocked off the upstairs bathroom and let Clovis have the run of the place. That way he could explore without encountering the inquisitive Labrador. ;) I think it worked out well!

A local petshop had crickets! Glory be!

And look what I was actually feeding with those crickets!

Parasites! I noticed white specks in Clovis' poop this morning and my reptile mom instincts were confirmed at the vet's this afternoon. The vet said that he is a bit dehydrated as well, and recommended daily 30 minute soaks for a while. He was duly plopped in the tub today while his cage was bleached and rinsed, and had his fourth poo of the day. FOUR POOS. It's a miracle he's almost 300 grams with all that pooping. Please send parasite-free thoughts our way! We lost our little Bowser to parasites, so I'm a little twitchy about them.

This morning he horked up undigested supers all over his viv and he hasn't eaten since we started the Panacur. :( I called the vet about the barfing and the tech said she would talk to the doctor and call me back, but that was several hours ago. I really hope we don't have to force-feed him but it may come to that.

Little stinker just lapped up 1.5 ml of carnivore care from the syringe quite willingly. He was lapping his Panacur too but I didn't want him to miss any so I wiggled the syringe right into his mouth. Poor little guy. He was gaping earlier and I scurried over and shoved squash into his mouth.

He's been getting a 30 minute daily soak and his cage is getting completely bleached every other day; I need to get some of that cage cleaner without toxic fumes because I don't want to add bleach poisoning to parasites! He's been pooping on his towel the past two days though, so that's nice and easy to remove and doesn't touch anything else in his viv. He's been doing a lot of glass dancing both in his viv and at the glass door to our little balcony. He gets so into it that he balances on his tail and then tips over! Little goober.

Clovis has had a grey head for more than a week now. His tail and back upper legs are also grey. I'm hoping he sheds soon, and that the orange around his ears gets even brighter! Here is a picture of what his head looked like the first day we got him:

Hopefully I can update soon to say his fecal was clear at the vet this week!

Flagellates are gone and pinworms are reduced. We are to do a few more Panacur courses and I'm to keep bleaching his tank and then we'll take more poop to the vet in a few weeks. Clovis thoroughly explored the vet's office, licking all the way. He only lost two grams in the past week, which is nothing, and he's not dehydrated anymore. He's not going to be happy though, because the vet said he's nearing adulthood and we should start cutting back on the buggies!

Also, vet said he might be a girl, which would break my brain. Hope he develops some boy-parts soon as he grows!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
