Worms with Dad by katiebread, on Flickr

Meet Clovis! Clovis came to our vet tech from a owner who did not care for him well. He is missing the tip of his tail and 2 of his toes. However, you can see he is quite the handsome boy; look at that orange on his face! We have 3 1/2 containers of extra-small phoenix worms left from our baby Bowser, who we had to put to sleep. Clovis will finish off these guys and we'll order bigger ones next time. This paper towel contained maybe 10-15 worms, which Clovis delicately picked off one by one.

Clovis tried to eat the camera right after this by katiebread, on Flickr

Clovis is definitely the stomach on legs that I hoped Bowser would one day become. I think he wanted to eat my camera flash, so I turned it off and took turns with my husband feeding him kale. He gobbled it all up!

Mah Stick by katiebread, on Flickr

Clovis came with a tank, his stick, his favorite bowl, the reptile carpet, a clamp light, and a heating pad. Wow! Tomorrow I'm going to give his viv a good cleaning and put in his UVB light. The carpet provides good insulation from the heating pad, so I'll keep it in there for now. I want to get a temp gun to get the temps right so I don't have to mess with probes. The meat thermometer I have right now hates me, and the feeling is mutual.

I want to come back ou-ut! by katiebread, on Flickr

The downside to the fun of feeding a beardie who was excited to eat was that we needed to let him bask so he could digest his good noms! Clovis was not pleased and ran all around his viv, trying to climb out. After 45-60 minutes I took him out for snuggling and floor time. He ran all over living room and kitchen, and scrabbled in protest when he was prevented from going under furniture or getting into mischief. He ended up falling asleep under my hair, even wiggling up to get in a better snuggle position. As a bonus, I didn't see too many stress marks on him while he was exploring! There were some faint black lines on his beard and belly but nothing like Bowser had, poor little guy.

I will update with pics of his viv once we have it set up properly, but we had a lovely first evening with our new boy and can't wait to play with him tomorrow! I bet he is already dreaming of worms and salads.

Thanks! The best part is, the day after I took that picture my husband and I went caving and got into some weird positions ourselves!
I caved and gave her bugs today. I probably will on Saturday as well if my friend visits so she will be active. I am such a pushover. :silent: No more buggies every day though! She has to go at least a day between buggies. :whip:

Need to clean both the floor and her face, obviously. We've been using slurries the past 3 days to get some veggies in her. She scarfs her buggies and ignores her veggies. However, it's hard to ignore veggies when they are presented like this:

Yum? She's exploring a lot more, though, and yesterday she had a nice, healthy poop in the bath, the best poop I've seen in a while. I need to add some calcium powder to the slurry in the future.

snoozing by katiebread, on Flickr

She snoozed for several hours yesterday. Apparently doing laps around the apartment wore her out! We don't get home until after 4 on weekdays, so the poor lizard is confined during her preferred prowling time. Clearly this means she needs to come with me to school more often and visit my kids. ;)

Clovis is so adorable! Is she off of her food again? She looks great, you are doing a good job with her slurries! :D

She will be an omnivore whether she likes it or not! Today she got straight squash and I left some collards in her bowl. I have no idea if she ate any collards, but she sure got some squash!
Also, Dawn shipped her blankie! Yay!

Have you ever tried the RepCal adult beardie pellets? Mine love them...they think they are a treat...little do they know they are actually a pretty good source of nutrition. All trickery is fair when it comes to beardies. LOL

Congratulations on the new blankies Clovis! My gang says, "you are gonna love them!"

Now I'm looking forward to seeing some pic's of Clovis all snuggled in enjoying her softies.

Next week, I am bringing beardie, blankie, and pillow to both schools with me. I am expecting the middle schoolers to be gleeful, especially those who remember her from last year. I really wish I could post pictures of their happy faces as they hold Clovis and talk to her, but there are confidentiality issues. :( However, I hope that all of us have experienced the awestruck, happy expressions of children meeting our scaly babies and asking questions and talking sweet, so just picture that following me around all day! :blob8: :D :blob5:

awww, that's how mine hide in their blankies when the weather turns yuk here in Ohio :D Coco will actually burrow in-between the blankies, so she always has a layer of 3 in her one corner, just so we can play "find the dragon". Looks like Clovis has claimed them outright, I love how my Psycho grabs and hugs her pillows, too.

Clovis will claim anything as long as she can snooze on it, hehehe! I tucked her in with her blankie and pillow after she fell asleep on me and she hunkered right down.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
