Worms with Dad by katiebread, on Flickr

Meet Clovis! Clovis came to our vet tech from a owner who did not care for him well. He is missing the tip of his tail and 2 of his toes. However, you can see he is quite the handsome boy; look at that orange on his face! We have 3 1/2 containers of extra-small phoenix worms left from our baby Bowser, who we had to put to sleep. Clovis will finish off these guys and we'll order bigger ones next time. This paper towel contained maybe 10-15 worms, which Clovis delicately picked off one by one.

Clovis tried to eat the camera right after this by katiebread, on Flickr

Clovis is definitely the stomach on legs that I hoped Bowser would one day become. I think he wanted to eat my camera flash, so I turned it off and took turns with my husband feeding him kale. He gobbled it all up!

Mah Stick by katiebread, on Flickr

Clovis came with a tank, his stick, his favorite bowl, the reptile carpet, a clamp light, and a heating pad. Wow! Tomorrow I'm going to give his viv a good cleaning and put in his UVB light. The carpet provides good insulation from the heating pad, so I'll keep it in there for now. I want to get a temp gun to get the temps right so I don't have to mess with probes. The meat thermometer I have right now hates me, and the feeling is mutual.

I want to come back ou-ut! by katiebread, on Flickr

The downside to the fun of feeding a beardie who was excited to eat was that we needed to let him bask so he could digest his good noms! Clovis was not pleased and ran all around his viv, trying to climb out. After 45-60 minutes I took him out for snuggling and floor time. He ran all over living room and kitchen, and scrabbled in protest when he was prevented from going under furniture or getting into mischief. He ended up falling asleep under my hair, even wiggling up to get in a better snuggle position. As a bonus, I didn't see too many stress marks on him while he was exploring! There were some faint black lines on his beard and belly but nothing like Bowser had, poor little guy.

I will update with pics of his viv once we have it set up properly, but we had a lovely first evening with our new boy and can't wait to play with him tomorrow! I bet he is already dreaming of worms and salads.

LOL! :D I think we should design our own line of beardie head gear fashions. Clovis can be in charge of our feminine hats, and Dudley can come up with some more manly ones.

Love the new pictures ! :) Clovis was certainly showing some attitude outside ! I loved her curled up tail in most of the pictures ! Alert mode ! Great pictures and I'm glad she seems to be feeling a little better :)

Jess, it is on! I will have to devise more flower hats over the coming days.
Carrie, she pooped in her bath shortly after I posted and I made the 60+ minute round trip to bring the poop to the vet for a fecal. I felt like a good beardie mom! The vet will call with results.

Pyrovamp, Bowen is such a little charmer! Just as I typed that, Clovis looked this way and cocked her head. We will have to take more glamor shots to show off for all the hot guy beardies on this board!

Forgot to say that fecal came back clean! Today she ate like fifteen waxies and maybe two or three dried crickets. I need to do better about rotating my bugs. After a while she seems to want something different. She has pooped a few times this week so I think I will hold off on the laxative for a while, but I will give her the liquid calcium until next week and then go back to dusting bugs. Hopefully she can have some outside time tomorrow morning!

Good news ! :) Hope she keeps eating and pooping for you ! hehe (not exactly a "normal thing to wish for someone... but I think for anyone with beardies they will just nod and say thanks, me too !)

No hands! by katiebread, on Flickr

Calendar quality for sure. Look at that belly! And she's holding herself up with her head. :p

Her Royal Highness has decided that blueberries are her new favorite. She's never wanted them before, but today she ate the three off of her salad before the mealies I put there to tempt her! I liked it better when butternut squash was her favorite, but what can you do. Today I made her salads for the week: turnip greens, mustard greens, and some kale (a previous favorite of Her Royal Highness) with shredded zucchini squash and fresh blueberries. I can't wait to throw away all that fresh produce! :banghead:

Dudley LOVES blueberried too. He goes crazy over any fruit except for apples LOL, he has a major sweet tooth. :D
Have you tried rolling the blueberries in front of CLovis and making her go after them??

Not yet. I need to try throwing her greens around too. Our vet said that is how she gets her beardie to eat salads.

Cave lizard1 by katiebread, on Flickr

Clovis' cave got left at my parents' house by accident when they were lizard-sitting. I think she misses it, and I keep forgetting to ask for it back. I can't be too cross about it though, because everyone at home loved her, and our family friends wants a beardie now! I'll have to check PetsMart for another cave for my spoiled little spikey-butt. :p

You want me to eat WHAT? by katiebread, on Flickr

Madame Picky-Spikes, ignoring her salad. I try tough love, but she doesn't get any calcium or vitamins and she gets really lethargic when she doesn't get buggies. I'm thinking of trying liquid calcium and vitamins so I can get nutrition into her while still withholding the good stuff until she eats her salads.

You gotta be kidding me. by katiebread, on Flickr

A funny pose from a previous outside photo shoot. I also need to get an iguana harness for her so she can be leashed outside. She hates the pleather harness we have now, unfortunately.

Snoozing, licking, and prowling. What a life.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
