Christmas lights?

Im building a new viv and on the side opposite her basking bulb i would like to put a very short string of christmas lights in some leafy vines i bought. To give some ambient light on that side. Thoughts?

That should be OK. I'd go with the older style rather than the LED lights so they aren't quite so intense. Alternatively you could put a fixture on the cool side and put in a daylight bulb for extra lighting.

Old school non LED bulbs can reach temperatures well over 200F and will burn a Beardie if he can access this vine. LED might be a little too bright but a blind dragon is better then one with severe burns. You might have to do some trial and error; buy some lights from Walmart, see if they are too bright and return them if they are. If you really want Christmas lights in there placing them at the same level as the basking light will be the most safe option but I am sure you will be able to find dimmer LED lights somewhere.

I bought a string that has about 10 bulbs on it. And they will be mounted to the ceiling about 30" above the viv floor. They are just like the ones you put in a christmas tree just shorter.

That's a good thought. I didn't think about the heat the older style puts out. At 30'' up I don't think the LEDs will be much of a problem though. Especially if they are out of line-of-sight.

I have the traditional style not the leds. The viv is also the size of a 6 person kitchen table so maybe the heat would be good

That's a great size! Quite a luxury =). The heat definitely won't be an issue at 30'' if the lights are well out of reach.
