Ceramic heater guard

The company of which I'm buying my ceramic heater suggested that I also buy a guard for it. I have already dished out a huge amount of money and would like to know if this i something that I really need.

A quick bump and addendum.

If these guards serve the purpose of preventing the creature from touching its surface, then surely it is unneeded, providing it is out of reach?

If you have ever touched one, you will know just how hot they can get and how much they can burn you let alone your little one!

Even though she would have to jump VERY high i dont like to take the risk, it was only £16 so i eir on the cautious side, but thats just me.
