cant figure out how to make my username show pic

I figured out how to make a banner, but i want to have a picture where it shows my username like alot of people have, but cant figure it out! Grr can anyone assit me? O

Hello,

You are referring to your Avatar!
Go into the User Control Panel. Then, click on Profile. Under the Profile area, you will have Edit Avatar, where you can upload a picture for your User name.
Let me know how that goes.

Okay, so either its right in front of me and i just dont see it (which i think it is)

Or it has something to do with me not being on a computer, i use my nook ever since my laptop broke, but i dont think its a "mobile" version of this site and it doesnt look any different than it did on my laptop. I just cant seem to figure it out. I have no idea why!

No I don't see that option. I get on here on my Nook or my iPhone and I don't see it on either one.

I have just taken a couple of screenshots on my mobile phone, and edited them to show you exactly what you need to do, please bear with me, whilst I upload the images and make the supporting text, once I've done it, it should show you exactly what to do. I'm using my mobile only, so you should see what I see

EDIT... HERE WE GO...

I'm hoping this will help.

First, you need to select the UCP - USER CONTROL PANEL. I've highlighted it in this first image so you can see where it is...

Once you are in the user control panel, you will see a few tabs like in this image below.

You need to select the PROFILE tab (highlighted in image below)..

Then select avatar from the side list, again highlighted...

Then either click on display gallery (highlighted) and choose one of the forum stock images (if there are any)...

Or, you can upload directly from your mobile if you click on "choose file" which Is next to "upload from your machine" text (choose file is highlighted)...

Then on my mobile, it gives me an option of where I wish to select my image from. I chose gallery and I was able to select an image from the mobile gallery.

The image needs to be a maximum of 100 x 100 pixels, no bigger than 16KB.

IF you don't have a pre-made image ready, then you will need to edit one either on your phone or nook, if you don't have a basic art app where you can crop an image or edit an image, then your best bet is to use photobucket. (I don't know the operating system of your nook, if it's windows, then you will have the basic PAINT application, you can edit your chosen image to become avatar size in that. If it's Linux, then you will need to install GIMP, if you haven't got it already) If you are on your mobile, then you will have to edit your image in photobucket IF you don't have an app installed where you can crop, edit and resize images...

if you haven't already got a photobucket account, then you will need to make one. You can't do this in the photobucket app, you will need to go to http://www.photobucket.com to create an account.

Once you have created your account..

On your nook OR mobile... (if you don't have an app to edit photos/images) just upload your selected picture to your photobucket account and then on the website version, (not photobucket app, also make sure you are on DESKTOP version, not mobile) select the folder that you have uploaded your image to, and then choose to edit the photo, this option is on the blue bar directly above the image uploaded to photobucket.

Once you are in the editing screen, you can crop the image, resize your image, and do other wonderful things to it.

Once you have edited the image to make your avatar, you need to download it back to your mobile or nook.

You can do this either by clicking on the image & selecting to SAVE it, or by choosing to download it in the photobucket app.

Once you have your pre-made avatar on your nook, or mobile, you can then upload directly from your device into the forum software. (the above screenshot, where you select an image from your device)

There is already a thread on here showing how to upload and host from photobucket, if you need a tutorial of editing an image in photobucket, give me a shout, either ask on this post, or pm me.

Well, apparently its not i***t proof
when i tried on my iphone, the choose file link wasnt..active i guess would be the word...it was there but dull colored and wouldnt let me click on it.
SO, i went on my nook...it let me click the choose file so i emailed myself the picture, saved it onto my nook anddddd, it was too big (go figure)
so then i remembered when i emailed myself the pic a pop up came up that said send pic as; actual size 2.1mb, large 200kb, medium and small, but i couldnt remember the exact KB sizes so i got all excited thinking i could just resend it as small and it would be fine.
NOPE, small was 40KB!!!! Grrrrrrr!
(Now im frustrated)
so i got on photobucket, uploaded the pic, and clicked on edit photos.....and it just kept kicking me off the internet and going to the home screen.
SO i go onto photobucket on my iphone....click on edit photos and a screen comes up that says this feature requires adobe flashplayer 9 or newer.
(Now im angry)
But what i dont understand is i just got the nook for christmas and my iphone about 2 weeks ago, so both are brand new so im not sure why they wouldnt have the right software.
Maybe im just not meant to have a profile pic
Im NOT giving up though, tomorrow im going to bring my work laptop home and see if i can get it to work that way, but if my work computer has the right flash player and my brand spankin new nook & iphone dont,
im really not going to be happy!!!!!

Steve Jobs refused to touch flash on ANY of the apple products, he was all for pushing the entire www to move to html5 or other open standards.

If your "nook" is an apple product, you'll NEVER see flash work on that either.

You need to do it from a real computer. iPhones do not let you choose "files" to upload, due to how it stores and protects data, and I think Nooks are the same way. The Avatar image is actually uploaded to the BD.org site. The devices you are trying to use simply don't do what is needed. It's not Flash or anything abnormal. It has to do with old style HTML file upload features.

Oh, and as for Flash in general... the iPhone (nor iPads) supports Flash. I believe it came down to a licensing thing where Apple didn't want to have to license Flash from Adobe for every device. This has been a complaint of iPhone users since the original iPhone.

It was actually more of a bit of arrogance from Steve Jobs, he wanted the WHOLE internet to change to open standards such as html5 TO SUIT HIM, because he thought that flash was not reliable and had too many security issues.

I know thousands and thousands of websites that choose to use flash for their animations and other bits and bobs on their websites.

What on earth are weebl going to do if flash disappears forever? :lol:
