Be gentile and speak softly around him. Move slowly. Try holding him in the evening around lights out and he may fall asleep on you. Over time that may help him realize you're safe (and warm). Try hand feeding him a bit as well to see if you can build some trust that way.
I cannot figure out how to tame him. I thought he trusted me but today he keeps running away from me. When i go to pick him up, he gets alot fatter, what does this mean? Can you plz help. He is about eight inches, will he mellow out when he gets bigger?
Yes, he will become more calm when he gets bigger. Many bearded dragons are often quite spry when younger, and do not like to stay in one place at a time. He probably just wants to run around. You should take him in to a "beardie proof" room, like the bathroom, and let him wander around. Hand feeding always helps develop feelings of trust, and he will begin to associate your hand with goodies! If he is freaking out too much, do not let go; gently hold him until he stops struggling. In order to calm down, I find that placing a hand over his head to create a dark space makes them feel secure.
Let me know how it goes! Patience is the key with taming.
Put your hands in his enclosure as often as possible. Pick him up from his side, not from above him. Put him on your chest and gently place a finger on his back between his rear legs.
Don't give up and soon he will be calmly riding around on your shoulder..
