Campbell Jane *Very Sad News*

She seems fine. I tore myself out of the house last night to go for dinner, and she survived, so I'm starting to breathe a little easier. When I left she was snuggled up with fuzzy bunny. Nice life!!! I had to go out in 6 inches of snow to come to work and get complained at all day. :x What I wouldn't give to spend the day under a heat lamp, wrapped in a blankie, snuggled up with a fuzzy bunny.

That's SO CUTE! I have a question Jaspersmom. Didn't you say something about feeding dandelions? I just picked the yellow part. I don't use pesticides, but I have 2 questions.

1. I live out in the country, is it safe?
2. Is the yellow part the right part to give Zinger?

It's safe as long as you're sure there are no pesticides from nearby crops or anything. I used to pick dandelions at my parents farm to give to Jasper all the time. You can feed him the flowers or the leaves. Jas hated the flowers but loved the leaves. Some beardies love the flowers too!

Thanks! I tried to give Zinger the flower after I looked it up on the beautiful dragons nutrition, but he had just eaten 100 pheonix worms and wasn't wanting any more veggies. Don't tell anyone, but I ate one of the flowers.

Sandi, I think you are long overdue for a vacation.

Tell ya what...you come down to Florida and I will take you to the beach, where you can spend the day basking under the biggest heat lamp known to man, the "sun" 8) , while lying on a blankie and sipping a Fuzzy Navel(for those of you who do not know what a Fuzzy Navel is....it is a cocktail...not a part of the male anatomy). If you do prefer the other fuzzy navel, we can hook ya up with that also. :lol:

Sandi, random question... do you have pet insurance? because I know you take Cam to the vet often and I'm sure your hedgies need to go sometimes, too.

The only animal I have pet insurance for is my cat. He's insured up to and including his eyeballs, and naturally is the only one who never gets sick. Insurance for exotics isn't available here yet. My vet is really good to me because I do rescues and he tries to give me a break when he can. However, I still have a substantial debt. I'm working on getting the debt under control, but they're worth it. If a company ever offered good exotics insurance here, I'd be all over it.

Did you try contacting the SPCA? One of my coworkers was recently told by her vet that ASPCA now offers pet insurance, and much better coverage than VPI. Not sure if Canada would have the same.

I just read the last few pages :shock: and am so glad that Campbell Jane is home and getting better. What a scare that was for you. It left me in tears to think of the stress you both went through. I'm praying there won't ever be another night like what you both went through, and am grateful that she's back in your loving home being so well taken care of. :love5: The best to both of you, that Cam stay healthy and gets really strong. I checked with the Humane Society and the SPCA here and neither of them offers insurance. Poo. Oh well, I don't mind living on Kraft Dinner and ichiban as long as my babies are well looked after!

Cam did a nice big poo for me today. I was starting to get concerned because she hadn't gone since last Monday at the vet's office, but she decided to quit messing with me finally. She ate like a good girl too.

It was really hard to get out of the house to come to work today. I literally went back to check on her 7 or 8 times. I'm very anxious to get home and make sure she's OK! I think I'm going to have to invest in that webcam so I can watch her while I'm at work. :roll:

I know that you're from Canada, and I don't know if this credit card is available there, but here in the States we have something new, called Care Credit, which is a credit card offered by GE Money Bank, in Florida.

Its a Credit Card made specifically for any type of medical expenses, and covers you and any member of your family, even your pets! It's good for doctor's visits, dental care, emergency medical care, surgeries, or any type of medical expense, and the payments are very reasonable. Of course you have to use a provider that participates in the program, but there are many to choose from. Thankfully, my regular vet for the dogs and cats is a participating provider, although I'm not sure about my beardie vet, since none of them have been sick in quite a while.

Depending on the amount of the charge, they allow you so many months to pay that particular expense off, and if you do so within the required time period, they charge you no interest at all. If you don't pay it off in the allowed time, then interest charges begin to apply.

At the moment, I have about a $500 balance, due to some dental work I had done, and because my Golden Retriever was sick and had to have a few tests, and my payment is only $15 a month. That card has been a Godsend since my husband's been out of work.

You might want to look into it, although I don't know if you would have providers in Canada. However, if you don't, perhaps a Bank in Canada would provide something similar for Canadian citizens. If they do, it would certainly make your life a bit easier when one of your pets gets sick, or if you do!

If you installed a webcam on Miss CJ, you know that you'll never get any work done, right? Like dolcedragon said, you'll be wondering why she isn't doing this or that. You'll also end up talking to your monitor, making people second guessing your sanity.

OK, I'll come clean - that's what I'll be doing if Miss CJ was on webcam :mrgreen:

Unfortunately not... my whole family lives outside the city, and most of my friends work here with me. My neighbours I don't know well enough to give them a key. I know I'm just being paranoid. It will be easier when I move in with my boyfriend because then he'll be there at least some of the time when I'm not.

Denise, I checked into the CareCredit thing, and it doesn't look like we have anything like that here. Too bad... it sounds like a great thing to have!

That is so exactly what I would be doing. :laughhard: Maybe I'll install the webcam and then give the link to all of you... then at least I wouldn't be the only one getting no work done! :twisted:
