Aww that's a really cute story. You basically rescued a beardie! And it does sound like the petstore cares, sucks that they didn't have enough room to seperate them but it is really sweet of them to take up on your offer! I hate reading stories about how bad chain stores are with handling the beardies, or any other animal. It's so sad!! I'm constantly looking at craigslist at bearded dragons and small reptiles, it can get really sad!! I don't know why I keep looking, just makes me mad. I can't afford another one but some days I really think about getting another one that really needed it. I've read a lot of rescuing stories and it amazes me! I'd like to think I would do that for a innocent lizard too.. I just have to wait til I got the money and room for another one. Buddy is enough all ready! Can't imagine having more than one, it would be crazy awesome but whoa!
How I got buddy wasn't that awesome of a story. My bf and I get bored sometimes and just check out petstores, we were in Petco and seen baby and juvenile beardies. We were thinking about getting a lizard or snake or something, we wanted a pet but I'm allergic to pet dander. I could deal with a dog but a lizard sounded better.. maybe easier?? (not!) The guy feeding the beardies at Petco and was talking to us about the care for them and everything. He was feeding one of the juvenile beardies with it on his shoulder. I thought it was so neat. Then he put the beardie on my bf's shoulder. Beardie was totally okay with it. Let my bf handle him. That shocked me and I immediately wanted a beardie. I knew they were the one for me. Couple days later, bought all the gear.. got buddy! I didn't really pick her out, the lady who was getting her for me just asked if I wanted a dark or light one, I said a lighter one, not knowing what that meant. That's when she picked out Buddy! Been in love ever since. But I did think it was wierd that the traveling case I got for her to go to my house from the store was a bowl and lid. Small bowl. Good thing I lived in town, could you imagine if I had to travel over an hour. Poor beardie. =[
--For the hammock.. well it falls a lot. It never use to but I moved it all the time and kind of wore out the little hole the suction cup goes thru. Usually if I lick it (or clean it) it sticks for awhile... but not always. It's kind of a pain but she loves it.
