Buddy... is not a boy, she's a momma! 3 times now *Pics*

So Buddy is almost a year now (from when I got HER from petsmart). Thought she was a boy because I self examined her and she got those pore things around her vent. Today Buddy decided to lay an egg! (infertile)
Buddy has been SOO active for the last couple days or maybe over a week.. thought "he" was going through an adolence phase. Guess not...

Is there anything I should be doing for her while she is going through this?

I provided a sandbox for her (which she is making a mess!!)

How long will this last, and is it every year?
Any tips will be very appreciated. I'm also going to do some research. Wasn't expecting this at all..

Thanks.

Oh man, I wonder what actually happened. She looked mighty upset about something. Good thing everything is back to normal with her. Poops and everything okay?
Do you have a picture when she was like that that shows her belly?
Buddy's belly looks different when she's going to lay, not lumpy or anything, I can't feel anything either but it sags. She's more than fat, it's bigger in the back and dropped down. So like a pregnant belly lol. I wish I had a picture to show you. Before she lays I will try to take one. She just looks extra healthy right now :D

Right now it's hard to get Buddy to stay still to take a picture of her belly. She refused to eat again this morning, she just ran off from me. When straight to the back door, which is all glass (sliding porch door) and she's staring outside. But I don't dare let her out, she hates it. I do sometimes when it's sunny, she clings to me and freaks out when anything moves. She just likes to look outside.

So I got a little picture happy this morning, thought I would share. I tried to get pictures of her stomach but not sure how they turned out. She isn't going to have them yet so I'm sure her stomach will show more later on this week.

Enjoy!

She may look happy in the bath, but she's not. >.<

She sure is getting wide, so you may be right. You'll only know when the small urates start showing up & the digging starts. Keep me posted!
Loved all the pics & she did look happy in the bath, that is a great smile!

Well the only thing I have showing belly or wideness are the pics below. The first was probably a week before all heck broke loose! And she turned the black you saw. Your picture of Buddy near the sliding door on the carpet looks a LOT like what Venus looked like for a couple of weeks before all that happened. I thought she was impacted or constipated because she didn't poop or want to eat. She kept hiding under her log and pacing back and forth and scratching at the glass.

This picture was from the day she did turn the black. The picture has glare but she was very full looking.

Well Buddy is going to do it again.. Small poop this morning (still had poop in it though) and glass dancing like crazy!

Venus did look pretty full, Is she still that big?
Buddy was constipated once but it might of just been me but when I would try to smooth my hand down her belly in the bath, it seemed hard. I assumed it was the poop, well urate.
Have you seen/heard anything about a beardie about to lay and just stop? Seems wierd to think she could of absorbed the eggs, all 20some of them. I got the day off today *unless I get called in* so I'm going to do some research. For you and me, never know what will happen to your own beardie. I'm interested in what happened to Venus, prego or not... hmmm.

Are you sure she didn't poop a lot while she was glass dancing?
they would be VERY tiny, little pools with a tiny urate. I will take a picture when Buddy does it again.

I was looking up stuff and got scared because it went straight to liver/kidney problems. I'm not sure how to look it up because I'm not sure if she was ever egg bound, it might be something completely different. Glass dancing could be a lot of things, and the belly could just be a healthy beardie.

I tried looking at previous posts but how long ago was this, how long did it happen for? What exactly happened?

I know she acted like she had to lay, scratching at the tank, then appeared to be sick for awhile, black beard and all, and is back to normal now.. right?

Yes she is completely back to normal. In fact she is starting a new shed I noticed today and kind of suspected because she hasn't been eating her veggies and only wanting protein. Her head is starting it's greying that she does when she sheds.

The situation I was talking about happened May 31. There was a huge poop with the pink tinged white urate. After that poop happened that evening is when she got the black beard and tail tip. But prior to that day (for about 2 weeks before) was the time of the glass dancing, and sleeping a lot, and not wanting to eat ; I did notice some very small poops during that time that looked almost like squirts of poop and urate. She stayed black for about a week when it happened and by week 2 she looked pretty much back to normal.

Hmmm, I'm still working on trying to figure out Venus. I guess it's not too big of a deal if she's okay now. Just really curious.

I THINK Buddy is going to lay her eggs today. Apparently she has been going crazy in her tank all day while I was working. I put her in her sandbox and she starting digging, so I left her alone. I check on her to see she wants out. She stopped digging. I leave and come back, same thing, wants out. I let her out for 5 mins. I just put her back in there. I really want her to lay her eggs tonight while I'm home because I will be working tomorrow and the next day. I hear scratching from the box in the other room but I can't tell if it's her digging or wanting out. I don't want to look yet because I don't want her to think that I will let her out everytime I go in there. I just feel bad when she is trying super hard to get out and I'm just sitting there watching, not helping. I'll give her about an hour or so to make up her mind. :?

Awwww I'm sure it breaks your heart to not help her out when she appears to want out. But look at it this way...if you don't she will tire of the preoccupation with getting out and probably either nap then dig or dig then nap. She could be trying to get out because she knows you're there at home. They have such keen hearing and probably are like dogs. They can tell the difference between your walk, or voice from someone else. Just like how my dogs are quiet all day and suddenly they start whinning and pacing because they hear my hubby's truck coming a mile away!

Haha that's cute.
Well after an hour I let her out, I know.. I can't help it. She felt really cold too. I switched the light above the sand to a small heat light but it keeps drying out the sand. I got a spray bottle I'm using to keep the sand damp. I tried just using warm water to keep her warm but doesn't seem to be working. After I let her out and after she was in her tank warming up, I took her out to lay down with me for bed. She was breathing funny but not acting weird. She started moving her butt like she was going to lay an egg on me! Luckily I took her to her sandbox and she laid ONE egg. All night. Just one. I feel like it might be my fault for taking her out but she was cold and just scratching to get out, like jumping to get out. I'm going to try again today before work. I really hope she does it today so I can be home and once I leave, my bf is home. I just don't want it to be tomorrow, we are both at work all day.
Crossing my fingers it's going to be today.. soon! :p

HAHA  I guess she said "I'll teach you...leaving in there when I wanted out...so I'm going to lay my egg on YOU!"

Seriously though..maybe she didn't lay because she was too cold and being on you warmed her up from your body heat. Probably better to have the heat with the light and just keep using warm water to rewet the sand versus no light and her being too cold.

I know right.

Well I had a light on it, it was just a regular light bulb so it produced a little heat and I was spraying the water on the sand constantly. Just wasn't warm enough I guess. She's in there now, after over an hour of scratching to get out, I hear her digging. I went in there (cause I had to, laundry) and she's digging a hole! So using warm water and a small heat bulb is working. The last two times I didn't use the heat bulb.. I wonder if that's the difference or not. But last time the sand was a lot wetter, and warmer. But the sand was too wet, it stuck to her everywhere. The first time my bf put the sandbox together outside, and I live in Phoenix so I'm sure the sand was hot.

So I'm thinking it's just the temperature of the box.
I'm excited again. I love/hate watching her lay eggs. Haha. I know she's ready, I mean she laid one last night! I'll keep you posted. I hope to see it before I work but I'm sure by the time I leave she will just be starting or in the middle of it. It's an all day thing for her. This might end up being her first time that I won't be here for the "clean up". My bf will have to give her a bath and everything. I'm always super gentle with her afterwards. I think she's going to break or something, she couldn't feel that great after laying eggs.

Ugh. She stopped digging, and is now wanting back out. :x
I'm going to avoid my room as much as possible today. She's gotta do it!

LoL....I'm sorry for laughing because I know it's probably stressful waiting but it's just so darn cute the way you just said the "Ugh. She stopped digging, and is now wanting back out. :x " . I can just picture you looking in the box and her lookng back at you thinking to herself "what the heck took you so long to get here!"

Okay I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you! It's going to happen today soon! :)

Well she made me very fustrated! haha. I was getting nervous yesterday because I would try, and fail to put her in the sandbox but I had to work all night. Before I left to work at 3pm, she was already trying to go to sleep, which is not normal for her. And she was pissy with me all day, opening her mouth at me when trying to touch her. She never tried to bite, it was more like she was startled everytime I went to touch her. So all day at work I was thinking the worst, that her eggs aren't coming and she's going to get sick...

But...
today as soon as I woke up (few mins ago) I put her in the sandbox and she is digging. I'm not too excited because she's dug before and wanted out anyway. But today seems promising because she went to action right away and didn't seem pissed about being in the sand. I got the day off today so I would be very pleased if she did them today, so I could help her and clean her up.

If she "calls wolf" again today... I will go crazy!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
