Hi everyone. I am new to this.
I would just like to know if anyone elses beardie is in brumation at the moment. I am currently living in Germany and my beardy Draco is not eating very much at all. She lies all day in her log at the cool end of her tank and doesnt move. She doses on and off but is not sleeping constantly. She isnt passing stool in her tank but does when i give her her weekly bath. I offer her fresh veg every day and crickets but she will only sometimes nibble on the veg and eat 1 or 2 cricket but mostly nothing at all. She has been this way for around 4-5 weeks now. I have read that these are the sighns of her brumating ( if thats what it is called. ) I got her december 2010 and she is a year and a half old. Its worrying me as this is the first time she has refused food for so long :( . The guy from the reptile shop did warn me that it would be difficult to get her to feed at this time but i just need some reasurance from more experienced beardy owners. I have checked all her lamps and temperatures and they are all correct.

Thanks. x

Yes this defiantly sounds like Brumation to me. My one dragon went into Brumation for the first time last week as well.

Keep offering your baby food but don't be surprised if he doesn't eat it. Brumation can be a scary thing to go through the first few times till you know for sure what is happening. All dragon's are different as well so you never know how long they will be in this state. Keep bathing as well since you don't want the food he is eating to sit in his stomach and rot while in this state.

All dragons are different. My first dragon never went into brumation in his life and he lived till he was 20. My second dragon went into brumation ever September like clock work. My current one not sure yet because she's only 6 months old :p

Don't worry about feeding baby food, just keep offering the normal food. A dragon won't let itself starve, when and if it gets too hungry your dragon will eat I promise :D

Think of Brumation as hibernation for bears, the system slows down so it doesn't need as much heat, light, water, activity to keep it going.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
