bottom jaw sticking out father then top jaw

my bearded dragon is about 7 months old and in the past 3 days his bottom jaw has been sticking out further, I reserched it and it said mbd. He is eating and walking around, I had repti glo 10.0 coil, I read about other bulbs so today I got Mercury Vapor bulb 100 watt by power sun, and since he has been under it 20 1/2 inches from the bulb, he has become more active. Did I do the right thing, I cant afford a vet at this moment. Also, it seems as if he is only using his right lung. but that isnt stopping him from eatting I was dusting super worms with calcium powder and he showed signs of more alertness. when he breathes his pops his head up with every breath. Any info will help thank you......his cage is a 55 gallon aquarium and on one side is 100 degrees and his other side is 76 degrees..he has repti carpet

Hi Zipper....can you post a picture or video [ even better ] ? Yes it's MBD, but he can still live a happy healthy life if you reverse it now with proper lights + calcium. You can probably put the bulb closer than 20 inches, probably 14" will be fine. As for how he is breathing, it sounds like a respiratory infection. And how do you know he is breathing with one lung ? Is one side more caved in ? Be sure to keep his tank at least 77-80 degrees at night, and during the day your basking hot area should be about 105 and the cool side no lower that 77, preferably 80-84 degrees. If you have a water bowl in the tank, take it out for now, but offer water dripped on his nose with an eyedropper or even a wet paper towel , wet enough to dribble. If you can be sure it's a respiratory infection , you can order generic Baytril [ antibiotic ] for a reasonable price from Cheryl at beardeddragon.co. Cheryl is also a member here and has dosing instructions at the top of this page.

alright I have pics I will be posting them, I will try alittle closer, his left lung you can see going in and out but not on the right side. I dont know if it is RI for sure, I will have the money feb3rd, but until then I will get what I can. I will take his water bowl out. With the bulb I got should i still put the calcium powder his super worms?/ And the bulb I got is it good?

That's great that he loves greens, very healthy for him ! You can rinse them so they are extra wet when you feed him, he may be a bit dehydratedm, and that will help. As for the calcium, use the kind that has no D3 3 times a week, and the kind WITH D3 once a week just to be sure he gets the D3 since you're using a mercury vapor bulb. And you just contact Cheryl at Rioreptles [ her company is beardeddragon.co ] her info is at the top of the page. Tell her you need Baytril for your beardie, she will give you instructions. But you want to be sure that he's ill if your'e going to use Baytril , you don't want to give meds. if he doesn't actually need them. You say he throws his head back when he breathes, does he make any noise as well ?

thank you so much, I will get ahold of her, and yes when he throws his head back, he makes this little clicking noise and when he licks it sounds like his tongue is dragging on his mouth or something, from his pics, how bad would you say his mbd is?? he is not dragging his hind end or shaking or anything like that, he started the dragging but i got that bulb and he perked right up

No, his jaw is not too bad, there are dragons with much worse jaw problems than that.
