Hello Everyone,

I just recently started ordering crickets online from www.joshsfrogs.com. My first shipment of 1000 adult crickets was very good along with great customer service. However, my last order of 1000 3/4 inch crickets and 500 1/8 inch crickets did not go as well. The 1000 3/4 inch was fine, but the 500 1/8 inch were mostly dead, about 50 alive. So, I called and they have a great policy on DOAs (dead on arrival) crickets and they sent me 500 more free of charge. Like I said AMAZING customer service. My only problem with this site is the price is a little high, in my opinion. For 1000 3/4 inch and 500 1/8 inch with overnight shipping, it cost about $50 (20 for crickets and 30 for shipping). Are these good prices? If not i would like to switch to another company, but the customer service is great. So, if there is a company with lower prices than $12 for 1000 and $8 for 500 and has great customer service PLEASE post the link to that site.

Thank you

PS: Josh's Frog is a great company, but the cost of shipping is starting to kill my wallet.

I like Mike and Allison at Premium crickets premiumcrickets.com . the prices are reasonable and so is the shipping. We got our last crickets from them last year but had really cut back on our cricket purchases when our roach colonies got large enough handle almost all our needs. We were feeding up to thirty lizards at one time using roaches almost exclusively . We have been raising small amounts of crickets for some time - more for variety than use as a staple. We have not ordered any more crickets since the virus began to take its toll last year so our small colony is OK. The last time I ordered Crickets from Mike at premiumcrickets.com they did fine, so as far as I know his stock was not contaminated.
Have you thought of roaches. You may want to to try Dubia's or Lobster roaches. A going colony can supply all sorts of sizes. We were very successful using the smallest nymph lobster roaches for my son's baby chameleons. My lobsters were safe untill I finally fugured out how to harvest them from their enclosure. Dubias are probably one of the best all around feeders but sometimes you may want something a little more frisky and then discoid's or fusca's would fit the bill . You may want to try http://charleston.craigslist.org/pet/2244646276.html for some feeder roaches if you are considering other alternatives.

thank you for the reply. What is your set up for your roaches? I have a cricket colony that i just started a few weeks ago, just started getting pin heads. If the roaches are better and easier to care for than crickets I am very interested in starting a roach colony. How do you heat your roaches? I read that they have to have 85 degrees at least to breed.

Thanks again Hope to hear from you soon

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
