Baron the Beardie

Just making this to put stories/pictures of Baron in.
I got him on Friday. I think he was laid in Jan/Feb, and he hatched in March but I'm not 100 percent sure.
He's a Super Red, and pretty gentle for now.
Here he is:

No exciting stories about him yet...aside from his logic being "No I don't want dinner 2 hours before my lights go out, Mom" and then 15 minutes before lights go out, he is dancing along the glass where the cricket keeper is and trying to eat them through it.
And then when I go to feed him this morning...nothing. Silly Beardie.

He is much better that's for sure. He's starting to get fat and I can't stop smiling.
He got mad at me this morning though for some reason! I went to take him out(where normally we have no problems) and he ran from me, puffed his beard out big and opened his mouth wide. I was pretty impressed. So I took my hand out, and then slowly put it back in and inched my way toward him bit by bit for a while, and then started petting him. When he calmed down and his beard got unpuffed, I picked him up and pet him some more in his viv before taking him out to feed him his hornworms.

I was pretty impressed he found out his beard though. He made quite the display! His stress marks have been pretty dark the past two days, I'm wondering why.

Sometimes there's no rhyme or reason for the marks, they come and go. Glad you enjoyed the display. I had Didi on my knee while Titan got some sun, saw a full display by Titan when Didi got off my knee, they wanted to fight but I wouldn't let them :lol: They're just goofballs!

I need to get him a bigger bath tub as well. He's found he can jump to the rim and out. I was using a smallish tubberware container, but I think I need to upgrade now.

Going to make the wipes today. I bought the baby wipe box(I don't know what I'll do with all thenbaby wipes though....) and vinegar too. It'll make clean up really easy now.
He also started gaping yesterday while he's basking. Either I never noticed it before or he just started recently. It's so hilarious!

It is, but it means he's learned to regulate his interal body temps, which is a great thing!

Why don't you give him his bath in the kitchen sink, that's what I do. He may learn to poop in it, too, that would work well. All my dragons are bathed in the kitchen sink, and I have two 9" high ones, so they can't even jump out. Works very well, having 6 beardies, they get bathed 2 x 2, makes bath morning much easier to handle.

He'd also have a lot of space to splash around!

I was going to this morning, but the dishes needed to be done and I had 4 pounds of strawberries to soak. I'll start doing that, I give my hedgehog a bath in the sink when she really needs it.

She's a bit taller though and can get out if she really tries!

Arya is a hellion...she bites everyone but me, unless she's really grumpy and then she'll bite me too. But I love her-and I would rather her with me then someone who doesn't know enough about hedgies.

And I measured Baron. Head to tip of his tail he is 6 3/4", and from head to vent he's just over 3". Hopefully he starts really growing fast.

Baron and I have kind of figured out a feeding routine when I'm home all day-let him eat as many as he wants in 10-15 minutes(which is 5-10 crickets at best) and let him bask for two hours, then let him eat, let him bask, rinse and repeat.
On another note it's BEAUTIFUL outside and super warm. Him and I will go outside and I'll let him enjoy the sun for a while. I'll rotate the cats outside after I bring Baron in as well. Benjamin hates grass and concrete, so I'm trying to get him used to it once and a while. Missy loves going outside though.

Baron also eats less when he keeps missing crickets. What a goon-he gets mad and wants out after a while if he keeps missing them.

An Update on the Import Permits: I talked to the Inspection Agency today. I'll be applying for a permit sometime this week and hopefully will be getting a permit late this month or early next month. I'll be ordering in 5,000 extra for the Vancouver/Lower Mainland Beardie Owners/Slaves to try out and buy from me at first if it's needed as well. Deb you definitely will be getting some from me for sure!

Guess he's not too impressed with the great outdoors, such a cute little fierce dragon :lol: Love the pics. That's great that you're getting a license. Does this mean you have to drive them over or can they be mailed to you, too?
