Baron the Beardie

Just making this to put stories/pictures of Baron in.
I got him on Friday. I think he was laid in Jan/Feb, and he hatched in March but I'm not 100 percent sure.
He's a Super Red, and pretty gentle for now.
Here he is:

No exciting stories about him yet...aside from his logic being "No I don't want dinner 2 hours before my lights go out, Mom" and then 15 minutes before lights go out, he is dancing along the glass where the cricket keeper is and trying to eat them through it.
And then when I go to feed him this morning...nothing. Silly Beardie.

Aww!! What a sweet boyfriend! ^.^*
Hehehe.
(In the 'you know you're a beardie slave when...' Thread, I posted that my boyfriend brings home worms instead of flowers. ;P

He also ate 5 crickets...he was dancing in front of the keeper so I put 7 in...I have to hunt down the other two because he might finally be done. He's basking again, I had to turn his light on for another hour, but I'll take it because he's eating! And he wanted them! YAY.Going to get Brandon to pick up some butter/wax worms and feed those to him to help him put on some fat.

Drag about the silkworms, the only other place I know of is in Richmond, they used to be called PJ pets but I'm not sure what they're called now. And they're 75 cents each I think. I don't know of any other place around either.

Isn't that great that he's eating, way to go Baron & your boyfriend is very sweet to be getting worms & crickets for him!

And crickets, too? Isn't it great that he's eating again? His appetite will only get bigger. I understand how you feel about shipping costs, they're almost double to what they used to be & they've doubled in the States, too. Yuck :banghead:

I'm going to call Gov monday morning and see how much a permit would cost to bring the Repti's into Canada. The business requires a permit and since my plans fell through going down I mid as well check. From what I saw it'll cost 60-175 dollars for multiple uses, which will be the amount I'd spend in gas/food if I had to go down. Figure why not as long as those prices are correct. If I can do that maybe I can start selling a thousand on the side to other beardie owners who are interested to test them out.

And yes it's awesome he's eating! I'm so happy. I still had to tear the worms in half, but I didn't care because he was eating! They weren't moving much either, so I'm feeding them up and hopefully they'll start moving again more tomorrow.

Baron's eaten 12 crickets through the day and a horn worm at 1 1/2 long. He's much fuller now and I'm a much happier Beardie Mom. Since I had today off, I would put 5 crickets in his viv, let him eat them as he would and when he caught them all add more. It took him 3 hours to eat that many because he would eat 2, bask bask bask, eat a few more, bask bask bask, dance in front of the keeper, eat a few when I put them in and then bask. But I don't mind since I'm not leaving the house until after his bed time and he's eating.
Still had to hand feed him the horn worm. He doesn't understand what it is when it isn't attached to tweezers ripped in half.
He got a nice warm bath, and I'll give him another in the morning with a good belly massage.

Edit: he's also started his tail shed! Finally. We'll see if it leads up to the rest of his body, though it probably will. He'll get two daily 10 minute soaks from here on out until he's done this shed though. Want to make sure he's really hydrated and it isn't to stressful on him.

I think he just looks so pleased with himself! Like 'hey mom, look what I can do! THINK OF WHAT I'LL DO WHEN I'M HUGE.'

Thanks! I love his face. I don't know if it's Mommy Syndrome and me being all 'he's my baby and he's the best baby' or if he's actually got a really cute face.
I can't wait to see him when he's an adult. I want him to growgrowgrowgrow now!

He's really cute and it's Mommy syndrome, too, as our beardies are all the best looking in the bunch  He looks so much bigger, healthier and so much happier & he sure is happy climbing the bottom of his tank :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
