it says everone in a while you can feed some. may like once a month a small peace would not hurt.

Banana is on the Feed Rarely list which makes me think it is most probably not good for them. A little bit on occasion probably wouldn't do any harm.

my beardie loves banana, I only give small pieces about once a month though.

Sometimes I have to give spike a little banana to jump start his greens if I notice he isn't eating his greens a few days in a row I take one slice and chop it really small and put it in his greens banana is by far his favorite food it sucks I can only let him have small amount so seldom.

If it says 'feed rarely' on the beautiful dragons website, you should avoid feeding it.

Bananas are high in phosphorus. A bearded dragon's body uses stored calcium to balance its minerals and if you are feeding too much phosphorus your dragon can become calcium deficient. Calcium deficiency weakens the bones and can lead to a serious condition called metabolic bone disease.

Considering the many foods that are healthy for a bearded dragon, and how important calcium absorption is to the health of your dragon, it isn't wise to risk upsetting your dragon's mineral ratio.

As Shannybeard said, it is high in phosphorous, but that doesn't mean you can't feed it. You should only give it to him atleast 1 every 2 months or once a month. I wouldn't give it to him more often than that, it could lead to serious health issues.

If you are going to try banana be warned, i gave some to sparks in his salad mix when he was little, i chucked in carrots, apple, banana and sometimes strawberry to see what he liked. The clear winner was carrot, there was never any left in the bowl. His poop didn't smell stinky......
Then one day i walked into my room from coming home after school and WOW did it smell bad . I found out that it must have been the banana seeing as some of it was missing. It was so bad, the whole room stunk and so did his cage .It was like someone had too much curry :laughing6: . I never fed it to him again after that! :lol: .


Trust me, it makes their poops stinky :laughing6: .

I'm not a fan of making their poop any stinkier than it already is! With 6 beardies in the house we have to police the poop to keep a good air quality. :lol:

Oh boy, it sounds like you have your hands full! WOW you are blessed with a lot of furry, feathery and scaly kids. :mrgreen:

6 beardies is a lot of work. We have timers that start coming on at 5:30am and it takes me easily 1-1/2 hours in the morning to take care of my 3 before I go to work. My husband takes care of the other 3 and I am sure it takes him that long as well.

Then my husband comes home at lunch and feeds them all again and cleans their poop.

Then we come home from work and spend another 2+ hours each feeding, bathing, poop cleaning and loving them.

I have a rescue I took in last week with severe MBD and he is so crippled and sick that he takes up a large amount of my time, too. :shock:

But they are all angels and they are worth the hard work. :love5:
