I wanted to introduce everyone to our new girl. She is on her way now from Denver, CO. Here's the tracking # if anyone wants to follow her flight: http://www.ups.com/WebTracking/processInputRequest?loc=en_US&Requester=NOT&tracknum=1Z6ET1020195023418&AgreeToTermsAndConditions=yes We have chosen the name Angeline (Angie for short) which means "messenger of God." I will post some new pictures tomorrow but these are the ones we have so far. She is part leatherback.

Here she is when Laszlo brought her home from the pet store on Feb 17th, 2012.

 Having the correct settings & trying to have a steadier hand makes a big difference. I'll try to keep the paper where I wrote the settings down for next year too if I don't misplace it.

Thanks Liz, I submitted that one. I only just noticed tonight that his right front leg was right up on a leaf in that picture, guess he liked the softness of the lamb's ear plant. :p

I love 9 and 10 but not for a calendar and I am going to be brutally honest. They are gorgeous pictures don't get me wrong here. The dragon is beautiful but, that background and the fuzzy stuffie he is on is a distraction. Your eye wanders from the focal point of the picture to the busy background the beardie seems to fade into with them both being pretty much a neutral color. The green of the stuffie is such a stark color compared to the rest of the picture your eye moves from the beardie to the background to the green stuffie back to the background. In art you want your eye to move through the picture but not in a photograph, your subject should be the focal point. I would blur the background a bit and the foreground leaving the beardie in sharp focus so its not a distraction. They are beautiful pictures but just to busy so your eye wanders. I don't want to hurt your feelings on the photos, but trying to offer some unsolicited help with them. They really are gorgeous photos :D

Thanks Tonja for your photogenic opinion, I really mean that. No worries, I didn't submit #9 or 10.

The reason I had him lay on his fuzzy gecko (that he sleeps on every night) is to try to help him feel comfortable & relaxed because when pictures are taken inside, the flash automatically goes off & that sends a look of terror in his eyes. I mainly posted those 2 pics here so that Gina could see them as we were discussing his frightened eyes when using the flash.

I was happy that he looked more relaxed outside so that really helped to be able to get a couple of decent ones.

Thanks again for your thoughts.

So, we bought some Christmas lights at Lowe's today BECAUSE Angie liked them as the blue ball (hanging in view of her tank already) sparkles & blinks. The other small set of lights are different colors & turn on & off at different times. She also decided she wanted to climb on the cotton that was at the store where the Christmas scenes were set up and sat there tilting her head while listening to the music & watch the animation. Customers were walking by & stood there laughing & watching her.

Last Saturday, we took my Subaru to R.C. Lacy to be serviced, she had a ball and made some new friends. Gina, one woman reminded me of you, she was talking to her so cute, like she was talking to a child and Angie absolutely loved it, doing the head tilt as she changed the tone of voice she was using. I laid her down on a pile of newspapers that were on a table and she went right over to the woman & leaned forward so she would pet her beard. The woman took lots of pictures of her and blew her kisses when we left.

Angie, more famous every day, that was so nice that the woman made a fuss over her. Friends for life!

She's such a special beardie and I'm so glad she's yours. What a kick you must get from her when she's out and about, never mind at home :D

Deb, I honestly think that she believes everyone is in those stores/businesses just for HER. You should see how she acts when we go in a store and no-one pays attention to her. To give you an example, today we had to go to Tractor Supply and I was holding her in my hands, she had her head up for little while looking around but when we kept walking past customers that either didn't notice her or didn't say anything, she laid her head down flat on the inside of my hand & her beard turned a little dark on both sides, she had the unhappiest eyes. Then we got near the check-out counter, some people spotted her & started asking questions, talking to her, petting her etc, then her head went as high as it possibly could, the orange coloring popped out in her beard like she had just had a bath in nice warm water. She is just SO easy to read and can change those colors like a chameleon.

She is a very special girl and we are very glad that we jumped on the chance to get her as she sure wasn't happy where she was & they didn't understand her. Thank goodness I happened to look in the For Free forum at that particular time. :D Especially since Judas passed away the day after she arrived or we wouldn't have any beardies in this household which just wouldn't have been right. :( We miss them all SO much and they are all so unique.

She's such a character, except for Gina's beardies, I've never heard of a beardie that craves attention

Awww! Angie already got her flashy Christmas lights. She must've been in heaven.
How sweet of the lady to be talking to Angie so softly.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
