Angie, Loki, Laura & Dozer (new pics 03/29/15)

I wanted to introduce everyone to our new girl. She is on her way now from Denver, CO. I will post some new pictures tomorrow but these are the ones we have so far. She is part leatherback.

Thanks. She would prefer being out & about with a crowd of people all the time. She is a very social beardie. Nothing scares her and she loves power tools too, even rides the lawn tractor with my husband wearing her leash & sitting in his hand.

Great photos of Angie (and you too, Diane)! She definitely looked like she loved being there.

Pookie is my social butterfly. He would much rather be in the company of humans than anything else, especially if they're all ooo'ing and ahh'ing over him.

All the pics looked great! I liked the one where she's got her front claws wrapped around your hand. Lil Squirt does that to me, sometimes it's just on one finger.

Thanks. She's got quite the personality BUT, she sure can pout. She can change her colors as fast as a chameleon so there's no doubt when she's not happy. :lol: She thinks she should be having attention all the time.

As far as noises go, I think it has to do with their personalities. Loki doesn't like loud noises and Angie is the complete opposite. On my day off on Tuesday, they were sweeping the roads here. Angie was in her tank at first and kept whipping her head around to let me know that she wanted to watch them. I took her out and had to move from window to window so that she could see the truck making the neat noises. :mrgreen: Her colors were SO bright and I swear she had a smile on her face. She gets bored easily and loves stimulation so on our days off, we usually try to figure out something to do that makes noise to keep her occupied. She loves sitting on the vacuum cleaner while I'm operating the power head too.

So, I would just say to watch Izzy's reaction to things and see if she shows an interest and if so, bring her a little closer to the noise to see if she likes it or is fearful and go from there.

Angie is quite the character!!

My Izzy is a snuggler and loves human interaction. I haven't had her that long to know all of her body language yet.

I have had her outside a few times when the weather warmed up and she was looking all around but still clinging to Mom.


I guess time will tell how she will be. Thanks for the advice and I enjoy looking at your pictures and reading all your activities!!!

Great that Izzy is a snuggler. You will get to know her body language, just takes a little time.

Her clinging to you when outside shows that she totally trusts you and you give her reassurance, that's awesome for only having her a short time. If she didn't feel comfortable with you, she could have tried to bolt or reacted to all the sights & sounds. Seems like she has come quite a ways already. To help her get used to outside when it is warm & sunny, you could open a window with a screen in it of course and set her on the windowsill, that will help ease her into the outdoors. Then sit outside on a porch or in a totally covered area while holding her so that she feels safe. It takes time, but it's SO worth it.

I'm glad that you enjoy all of Angie's antics. Never a dull moment with her. :lol:

Yup...that's what I'm trying to do....ease her into it.

The first time we were out, she pancaked and nestled into my neck. I cut it short...about 10 minutes. The next day I tried again. This time she sat proudly on my shoulder looking around. We walked around the block and she had her head up the whole time. She was a little stressed but it was better than the first time out!!

I want to try to get her in the car. Any suggestions for doing that?
