in regards to people who have said that i should separate my dragons,i am fully aware that you shouldnt keep males together as they can often fight to the death, however i have been advised by specialist herp vets and the reptile specialist they recommended who i originally bought them from, that it is perfectly ok to keep 2 females,i keep a close eye on them both for any signs of stress, which i have never seen, there have been no puffing of beards towards each other no black throats, they have a choice of 3 hides in the viv and are usually found side by side next to each other with their tails entwined lol
they will sit at opposite ends of the food bowl and take it in turns to take a mouthful of food, these girls hatched in the same viv and have grew up together since hatching.so i dont know if this makes a difference.

im no expert but i do take the advice of my herp vets very seriously(and these are people who are specialists in their field and who also own beardies)and if they thought i was in the wrong by them living together i would obviously separate them, but so far they been together 18months and i have never witnessed any violence between them
everyone is entitled to their own opinion i guess on what is right and what is wrong

I am in aggreement with you...I don't believe I commented on your dragons being housed together....I have seen many enclosures with 2-3 dragons in them , and they seem to live comfortably together. Everyone will have thier own opinion on what they think is right or wrong....You keep doing what your doing and follow the advice of your vet. Keep up the good work! Have a great Day!

Yes, beardies should be separated. It doesn't matter how large the viv is, things can still happen.

UTHs should NOT be used. Beardies can't sense heat under them and the UTH could easily burn their stomachs.
regarding this, this is a very commonly mis-stated statement, i have temp gunned the tile while being warmed with my uth, and it is around 80, the reason people say not to use uth is not because they can get burned, but because ur dragon can become dehydrated quickly since they dont sense temperature well from the bottom. But being that i bathe my beardie once a day, that is rather unlikely. Most people have never had any personal experiences with burns on their beardies from uth's. But if you temp gun the ground and make sure it isnt too hot its a nice thing to have in the middle of the night when its pretty cold.

Appriciated that you want to trust your vet.
I would however like to show you a few of my own dragons that I have rescued.

This is Ruben.
Ruben's brothers and sisters ripped his arm and leg off at the joint out of the blue.
Sibiling bonds do not exist in dragons.

This is Dex.
Dexter shared a viv and she never grew to a proper adult length.
As well as being stunted she is missing a bit of her tail, most of her right arm, most of her right foot and alot of her toes.

This December I rescued a baby dragon who is missing some tail and a few toes at the hands of her siblings.
It is just in their nature to nip/bite to defend their favourite spot.
Miso is due to have another toe amuptated next week due to her bites.

If you would like something else to consider you may wish to look at this thread:

This regards a girl who kept her dragons together in harmony for a long long time.
Then one day she came home to find that one had ripped the others tail clean off.

I appologise for the digression from the threads purpose, but I felt the need to post.

Back to enjoying DIY pictures!!

now now..this is a diy pics thread...however honda has a point, that bearded dragons always possess the ability to rip eachother apart, however, alot of times it is because those dragons have to compete for heat, food, and space. Given enough distance, and the right care, dragons like yours do not have to happen. I think it is possible to house them together, under the right conditions...that said, finish the discussion in a new thread! lol

Here are my two main units

the very top cage on the first pic was a 40 gallon converted to a front door open cage. Thats for some of the baby beardies when they hatch. I also have a couple extra tanks in storage for when that happens.

This unit is for the frilled dragon and blue tongue skink. There used to be two in there but now he is seperate because they just came back from brumation and are going to breed. The top 2 units are actually 1 whole unit and it was converted from a old big screen tv console. In the bottom, the ramp system was designed to accomidate for the female's handicap that she had when I got her, which was no fingernails. So it makes it easy for her to get around and there are plenty of hiding spots.

Just wanted to throw in a couple of pics. of the stand i'm making for Rocky's viv. Just finished the drawers last night. There will be a shelf along the bottom about 8" from the floor, the stand is also made of pine to match the viv. Whats left is the shelf and then stain and poly to match.

Have A Great Day All!!! :bikerwave:

Trevor's viv, not quite finished - built from an old set of library shelves with the false rock built directly into it

note the 'dragon's hoard' set with glass 'jewels' and painted by my autistic son who also chose the colours - bronze and orange on a sand coloured grout. He also collected the real rocks set into the grout on a beach in Scotland

and Trevor shortly after taking up residence

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
