I'm sorry he's in such condition....I hope he can hang on, poor thing. :( Best to keep the water bowl out of the tank , a disoriented dragon can lay in there + get overly chilled, esp. at night. I hope he hangs on !

Hello,

Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear he isn't very alert today. Are you going to get him in for some
fluids at the vets?
Keep us posted on him. Don't give up, we are really hoping he pulls through.

I just got home and tried to get some more food in him... I probably got a little less than .5ml in him if I'm generous. He's not even reliably lapping up what I put between his lips now. He's also not interested in the BeneBac. He still has enough energy to (sometimes) thrash around when I try to put the syringe in his mouth, but his neck feels so weak I'm afraid to grip him more to steady his head for feeding. He's so listless, I don't know if he'd handle another trip to the vet well. I'm not sure what the right course of action is here, I feel so helpless and I hate watching him decline like this.

He's got a black beard and dark tail end still, but he's still got color.

Hello,

The next step is subcutaneous fluids if you can get him back in. Were you able to get some
activated charcoal at least, to help detox him any?
The black beard & tail are signs of distress. Are you keeping him warm overnight, around 80
in his tank?
Definitely keep trying to get food/fluids into him. I am sorry he is not doing well.

Yes, he needs the fluids...this is the Ivermectin and the stress on his kidneys, and he needs the daily sub-q fluids. I hope you were able to get him to the vet again for the fluids, and so that you can learn to do them at home daily...If you did get him to the vet for the fluids, when he gets home they normally perk up a bit after getting the fluids, at that point while he's feeling a bit better, then try to get some nutrition in him. He's weak, dehydrated, and not feeling well, but that's to be expected. This is the normal course for Ivermectin poisoning, I know we've seen it before and you haven't, but I do not at all suggest giving up on him or thinking of euthanizing him at this point, he needs the daily fluids and then nutrition...honestly, this is the normal progression of recovery from the Ivermectin.

I have an appointment in about 3 hours to get him more fluids (and they're going to show me how to do it). He's really weak today though. I haven't seen any improvement in days. I woke up to find what I think is more vomit-- probably his last couple days' worth of food. :( I'm going to try to see if he has more interest in food after the injection.

That's what I would do, catch him when he's perked-up from the fluids. Hopefully once he gets some more serious hydration in him and then some nutrition he'll start to head in the right direction, but he needs that every day to get that junk flushed out of his system.

Got him the fluids, and the tech showed me how to do it. They sent me home with 7 days worth of syringes. Once I got him back home I was able to very slowly get about 1 ml of critical care in him, and he's been resting in his terrarium since. He's still got some spunk in him when I try to feed him or get him fluids (i.e. he's still resisting). He's actually supporting himself on his front legs now at least, rather than splayed out in whatever position I put him down in.

Hello,

How is your boy doing this evening, did the vet visit go well with getting him some
fluids?
This is normal, the meds have really zapped his entire system, literally poisoning
his system. Reptile metabolism is slow so it does take time so don't give up on him!
Keep us posted on him.

Just keep it up, as Tracie said, we are not used to how slow their metabolisms are, it takes quite a while for everything to leave their system, that's why we told you to certainly not give him any more medications at all, as that would be lethal. He just needs fluids, as much food as you can get in him, and time. Keep it up, you're doing an awesome job!

Hi everyone, thanks for all the support. I am devastated to share that Jub Jub passed away sometime early this morning. I got up to do his morning routine and though he looked like he was sleeping, he was already stiff. I was prepared for it, but I had hoped he would be one of the lucky ones. I'm so sad this morning.

That's sad news to hear =(. I know how tough it is to lose a dragon. You did everything you could have to help him and try to get him feeling better. Sometimes there just isn't anything further we can do to help them. I'm sure he appreciated your effort and had a good life with you.

Oh no, I'm so sad to hear this, sad for you and sad for Jub Jub. He didn't deserve this. :( Please accept my deepest condolences. I hope you let that vet know and I wish that you could get every penny back from their practice. I know you don't want vengeance but this was caused by their negligence. But I am very sorry and I hope your heart can heal soon.

Hello,

I am so sorry to hear you lost Jub Jub like that, how horrible.
I do think you should let the vet know how upset you are, because it is their fault, no doubt
about it.
My sincere condolences to you.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
