Really? I thought it would've taken longer than that for them to build up enough. I'll have to see how my mom feels about beetles. I would like to never have to go back to a pet store to buy bugs ever again if it's possible, and I'm sure my mom feels the same way. I really hope I can do supers.

Now for the update.

I had Fiz out a little while ago. I went up to check on him and his lights had just gone out & he was sitting in his corner. He wasn't asleep yet so I picked him up and brought him downstairs. He sat on the couch with me for awhile before going into the corner and going to sleep. He slept there for a good hour before I put him back in his viv. Ugh, this viv is so boring it's killing me. What was I thinking when I designed it? I feel so bad for poor Fizzy, he has to sit in that boring thing all day. Can't wait until I finish my rocks so that Fiz will have something to do. It reminds me of a kitchen, but more boring.

Which brings me into my rocks. I actually just ran outside and got them because I forgot to bring them inside for the night. I left them outside to dry. I don't watch the weather so I have no clue when it's going to rain so I bring them inside every night. I would probably go on a rampage if my hard work got rained on! But anyway I put another layer of grout on the rocks. I originally had the stairs to the platform all connected in one piece with hot glue and tooth picks for support, but the grout on the stairs and the platform kept cracking so I got frustrated and just pulled it off. I'll find a way to connect everything but for now they're separated. Thinking about one more layer on the stacked stairs and then two more layers on the platform. Then I'll paint & seal everything up.

My dad got crickets today so Fiz was the happiest reptile on the planet. It was funny because when I went to feed him you could see the shock on his face. He was like "Is this for real? I'm actually getting crickets?!" and then he hunted down every single bug in the cage.

As for KD, he was happy to have his bugs back too. His dish wasn't clean this morning so I just put his collard greens straight on the tile because he doesn't mind and he usually eats it all. So when I went to feed him crickets, a cricket went underneath the collard greens. KD could see it under there, so he kept licking at it. Well I guess he has poor coordination because the cricket kept moving and he would miss and grab a collard green instead of the cricket. So by the time he got the cricket, he had eaten all but one piece of collard green. It was really funny, because you could tell he was getting annoyed.

Fiz is sleeping in his corner of his viv right now and KD is laying across his log, hugging it really tightly. He loves that log so much I can't imagine ever taking it out of his viv. It's literally his world. I think he's married to it. Fiz, on the other hand, probably hates his tank because it's about as boring as a piece of plain paper. I probably won't get his tank finished until another week or two. I still have to finish up the rocks, buy & install some nice tile, and then figure out what to do with the plain white exposed melamine of his tank. I'm thinking about getting some kind of tank background or something decorative to put on the walls. Jess (whom I got all of my inspiration from) used a bamboo placemat on one wall of her viv to give it more color, and it looks really nice so if all fails I'll do that.

Fiz has been perking up, and actually moving around his tank. Before he'd just stay in one spot all day long, unmoving from the moment he woke up to the moment he went to sleep. Of course I moved him around myself so he'd get some heat and stuff. But now he actively moves from his basking spot, to his corner, to the front of the tank by the glass, etc. That makes me happy. Yesterday he ate every single piece of collard green I put out for him & I was really happy about that. Today, he didn't touch his greens but that's okay. I'm still very happy about yesterday.

I'll stop talking now. I know I said I'd upload some pictures but I forgot. oops. I'll upload some soon though!

I'm glad to hear Fiz is moving around and doing better. I hope the improvement continues. And he will love his new home when you finish those rocks. Have you considered giving him a stuffy toy or blankie in his viv to claw around on? I know once Figment got over his meds he was beating up on the little stuffy in his viv for a couple days. It was really entertaining for him and us. It's one of those Webkinz Mazin Hamsters. It is just the perfect size for him to drag around and terrorize.

I didn't grout today, but I decided three layers was enough grout on the stacked stair piece. So I mixed together some bronze paint and yellow paint (I don't know why) and it made this interesting color so I painted the whole thing. Turns out, I didn't like the color when it dried. Not really a big deal, I'll just get some acrylic paint in a color I like better The other piece isn't ready to be painted yet anyway, it still needs one or two more thicker layers of grout. I think I went too thin on that piece, so the next layer I'm going to do is going to be really thick.

Well actually yesterday and today I took Fizzy outside to play in the grass. Fiz always tries to eat the grass & KD always tries to eat the bugs and beetles. They're crazy.

Fiz is gorgeous!! I can't get over how orange he has become. That is all on you, girl. Proper temps, UVB and a good diet will bring out the color in your dragons. Really nice to see such beautiful beardies. love the pics in the grass.

Thanks Shanny! He's actually brighter though, he's like a real bright orangey yellow when he's happy under his lights. When I take him out he turns brown. KD really has pretty colors too, he's more of a pale yellow with lavender side bars. They're both really colorful considering they came from a pet store on sale 50% off. LOL.

Haha aww I love the pics Racheal, thanks for doing that when I asked Yeah Fiz has turned out really bright! From your description and pictures, seems like he's the same sort of colour as Cyrus, except the opposite, Cyrus gets brighter when he comes out, and Fiz gets brighter when he's in haha. Looks like you're taking really good care of them, and glad you could get some crickets.. I wish I could get as excited about crickets as they do, they just creep me out!!

How are the rocks coming along now? I wish I could help with grouting etc, but I have absolutely no clue how many coats or anything , good luck!!

Haha Nathan he gets colorful when he goes in his tank & when I have him out inside. But when he goes outside, he turns practically black. It's really weird. And yeah they sure do love their bugs. The rocks are coming along good, just another coat on the one and then I can paint & seal it. I painted the stacked stair one but i don't like the color so I'm going to repaint it. I got this cheetah bamboo placemat from the store and it looks really cool and I'm hoping to use it in Fiz's tank

Jewl: Aw thank you. Fiz is so bright it's crazy. When I got him he was this dull brown with orangey sidebars and now he's bright orange. Like who would've thought that would happen? And ugh yeah I know he is a porker! His back thighs are about as big as my thumb and that's really scary. He's going to grow up to be a monster, I'm just waiting for it. He has pretty colors too though.

even though Fiz is a boy, and he'd probably appreciate a really manly viv, I'm going to make it kind of girly. I like the way the cheetah print placemat looks in there, and it looks girly. I'm a girl & my room is bright pink so I think it would go along better if it was kind of girly anyway. LOL. It'll still be with Fiz's best interest, and everything in it will be functional and good for him. But as for colors and patterns go, that's my decision. I don't think he'll mind. I can't wait to get this finished. Now that i have this placemat, I can make the colors of his viv go along with it. It makes it so much easier because now i know what color tiles I need to get & what color I should paint the rocks.

That is awesome Pumpkin! I'm glad you have a plan. It will work out just fine. Nothing says that Fiz has to have a boy viv. We had to adjust Crystal's viv for Neo. It was going into a boy's bedroom where all the furniture is grey, but she is a girl. In the end, we opted to paint the viv to match his furniture. All the interior is done with the same paint. Then we picked fabric that is still grey tones, but had a floral pattern to it. We edged it all in burgundy ribbon and the hammock is attached using big girly bows. So, none of Neo's friends think anything about it, but Chrissy Poop gets her "girly" space because there is a flowery pattern on the fabric (which no one notices) and big poofy bows on the hammock! Perfect compromise. Maybe you can choose a stuffy toy for Fizzy that is masculine. He could have a rough and tough teddy bear or something? Very masculine. :wink:

Neosmom: Oh yes I know what you mean. Haha i'm glad someone gets where I'm going with this haha. The only thing is, my room is zebra and I'm putting cheetah print in the viv hahah. But I don't think it'll look bad. This placemat made my life sooo much easier. I can get a few more (they were only like 1.97 a piece so thats not bad) and make everything match it.
