Well, it all started by me getting pissed off at my mom because she has told me that I was going to be moved into a bigger room in the house about 6-7months ago and I am still waiting... I was upset now mostly because I have Ace which although was smaller when I got him, he is not so small now! so I decided that I was going to do something about it and I did!

this is Ace's old TINY 10gallon viv! (I was always sad for Ace being in there but I had the hopes of moving into the other room quickly and setting up his tank ASAP!)

So I measured the tank and I did my own measuring for extra space!
P7180062.jpg

I bought 4 pieces of 2x4 in which I told the guy in Home Depot if he could cut me 4 pieces of 38 inches long... well, I get home and I measure them in which they were for some reason 36 1/4 exactly! I was a little upset in the fact that I know I said 38inches and my Fiance even knows I said 38... well whatever things happen and I made the best of it. I made the width 2x4's longer and put them on the outside so that the tank could fit!

Here is me cutting the wood!

the wood has been cut!

and now for piecing them all together.

Measure twice and do it once!

This is a comparison to the stand that I had made for his old tank. Ahhhh! what a difference! (the wood is two different types that we has lying around in the garage!)

and this is my Beautiful Fiance... she was taking pictures and thought that she would take these pics and try to pull off saying that she actually did something. lol! in the simplest and nicest way that I can say this, when my Fiance helps with something dealing with power tools she has EXTREMELY HORRIFIC luck!

I know some people might comment on the sand... but I love the sand and they are big enough I believe to not really have a problem... I will also update tommorrow on Amber's tank as I did some changes to her tank also! I am so proud that I made this stand and in such a short time!

Hi Bradley,

Glad to see you were able to stack your viv's easily so that there's enough room for everyone. :D

Okay so I will be the first to make a mild comment on the sand... :|
Can I suggest that instead of the calcium sand that you might consider to use washed sifted playsand?
It's cheaper and safer.

I wanted to get that one but my Fiance didn't like the idea of playsand in a tank... I am going to see how much the playsand is and if it's a big difference to the sand I bought at petco I'll let my Fiance know for sure for the next time!

EDIT: I just went on Home Depot.com and WOW!!! http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xg2/R-202007298/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 I don't know if you can see but... wow! $3.47 for a 50lb bag!

Hi again,

I am worried about adopted bd's! Today I bought some crickets to change up the feeding of supers and dubias!

Amber is not eating at all and she is pooping wierd, or atleast i think she is pooping wierd. today I remembered that I needed to buy a new UVB light for her because the person I got them from said it was supposed to be replaced a while back but they don't know when exactly... so I was thinking that that could be the reason why she is acting wierd and not eating but I was also thinking that she could be going through stress bc she wasnt moved elsewhere but her viv was Drastically changed, Gatwick which they have been kept together since forever has been taken out. can anyone give me some input?

Gatwick is also on strike... He is devouring dubias but he didnt even glance at the crickets that I put in his viv! I am relating this to him having the most stress because he got his own Brand new viv, new location and he is ALONE!

please can anyone help me... I would very much appreciate it!

I haven't enountered this problem before, but from what I've read a lot here is that sometimes if you start adding other feeders instead of crickets, they won't want to switch back to them (not that I can ever see why you would want to... smelly canabalistic pests if you ask me).

Even though they are solitary creatures if they are kept together and then separated they will go through a separation stress. Remember any changes to their environment even something as simple as adding or taking out a rock or dish can cause the stress. Mine have even stressed when I've rearranged the room that they are located in...because now their view has changed.

Also Matt is right most beardies loose interest in crickets an if you offer them something good like roaches they are not going to want to go back to crickets.

Give them a few more days to get settled into new viv's and not being together they will snap out of it you'll see.

BTW...got beardie pic's? Hint...hint!

Luckily upgrading my girl (last night actually) to her new viv hasn't made her stress at all. She's still eating like a champ and wouldn't you know it... her stress marks (she's had them pretty much since I got her about a month ago) are waaaay lighter. I wouldn't be surprised if they were gone tomorrow at the rate they lightened up. I can probably blame that on the tiny tank she was in though... she was a rescue and came with her 20 gallon long (She's 16" so that's very small for her), and I basically started building her a new viv right away. Finished it last Wednesday evening, then let it air out for about 6 days and decided its time she moved into something bigger than a dorm room equivalent for a beardie.

I imagine that yours will come around in no time.

ok, so Right now I was holding amber and I hand fed her 2 supers... which she ate but not really of her own will. (she had her mouth open, maybe trying to bight me) while I was holding her before I fed her a super I felt something kind of hard/stiff on her underside right below her front legs! Could that be something?

something else that I noticed is that she tends to do like a hissing noise... not sure what that is though!

I'm not sure about the hard spot... :? maybe if you could post a pic and point out the area where you feel it it would help. Or we would be guessing for days...does it look like it could be a rib broken? Or some type of growth? Or low enough to be a impaction?

The hissing usually happens if they are startled...could that have been the case? If not it could possibly be pain or she's just mad about something.

Another pic of Amber (you can see the whole she dug in the sand in the back)
P7230111.jpg

and this is the pic with my finger placed on where I feel something hard... it feels like a stick!
P7230114.jpg

this is the same area but without my finger
P7230112.jpg

I have also noticed that when she is carried she inflates he belly, is that normal?

I also had to include Gatwick
P7230116.jpg

and also one of Ace (he's shedding his legs and head!)

When is the last time that Amber had a really big poop?
I'd give her a warm bath maybe a bit warmer than lukewarm but not much. While she's in the bath take your finger tips and gentley massage in a circular motion and downward from top to bottom on the right side...do this several times and see if it doesn't help her relieve herself. It sounds like she's either backed up or slightly impacted.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
