A Dragon In The Snake Den

My precious sweet babu arrived today and has me wrapped around his tiny tiny tail!

First look at the little guy (his first look at me too, LOL!)

He drank some water from a squirt bottle and ate about seven dubia just a few hours after arriving. He's the most adorable little thing and even if he's a bit shy now we are going to be best friends and have wonderful adventures together. <3

My sweet babu is almost seven weeks old. He is a sunburst tangerine hypo according to his hatch certificate. He was hatched April 28 and his parents are Dheyy and Knyte from Rio Reptiles, so he's got some serious good color coming to him as he matures. I'm so excited to see him grow and develop.

I have a million names in mind but I can't decide on one yet. I love Cheryl's naming scheme of using a "y" and some possibilities I've thought of are Veyron, Soveryn, Royal, Phoenyx, Drayden, Tornado and Skywalker. But I feel like I haven't "hit" on the right one.

I kept Apollo covered on all 3 sides too, just removed the front so I could enjoy him I figured, my older boy Zeus is in a crossfire type viv which only has the front viewing area, why not get Apollo used to the idea now since he's going to a crossfire type when he's older too.

Got the front covered, he still didn't seem interested in food but his temps and everything are right and he somehow continues pooping, did another one tonight. After his nightly bath I put him on the shirt in his cage and held him like that and he did the little snuggling-up wiggle and fell asleep. It is safe to say I am in love. I have a lizard I tuck into bed. I'm fair besotted.

And I think you're little one has you trained already. Before you know it he'll say jump and you'll say how high? :lol:

Every time, every single time I go to Petco I fall in love with a baby their. There's one leo and two beardies there I just adore. And then I keep thinking to myself: Well, getting a pet store baby is kinda a rescue :lol:

I am really liking the name Solstice! It means "sun stood still" and we're close to the summer solstice too.

I think the little bugger has been eating his salad while I have been gone because he did a green poop this morning and his salad has dragon bites in it. So at least he's eating something, even if I can't catch him doing it!

And I finally settled on a name. I had wanted to call him this from the start but I think someone else has a dragon with the same name. Even so, I kid you not, when I called it to him, he perked up instantly. He didn't do that with any other name. So.. Apologies for repeating a name, but my little dude is Iroh from Avatar: The Last Airbender. The dragon of the west! I love Iroh the character, he's so kind, funny and wise. Maybe if I name my dragon after him, he'll take on some of the same qualities, LOL! And I know there are a lot of Smaugs and Spikes out there so I guess it's okay.

The cutie pie is still not eating much but he's staying hydrated and pooping several times a day. Plus we're getting into a routine of bath time followed by cuddles and bed. I was hesitant to start handling him so soon, but it seemed like he was nervous of my hand in the cage. I thought it would be better to do a little gentle interaction to try and get him over that.

He doesn't like falling asleep on a shirt or blanket now, he will jump off of it onto me and then settle down. I swear also he will wake back up and glare at me if I stop petting him. When I start petting him again he will close his eyes and lay his head back down.

I think he actually likes cuddles? I know people say they do but I almost didn't believe it till I got him. He ate better today and then we had bedtime cuddles.

I weighed him and he weighs 13 grams at seven weeks old. He hasn't eaten much but he ate more tonight than I have seen before, so he seems to be recovering from his relocation stress. I can't believe he has been here a week! Every day is like seeing him for the first time.
