So pissed off right now. Bought a new light. Worked yesterday. Today, nothing. I'm sure trying to figure out the lighting...again. Is stressing out Stanley even more. It's like he doesn't even see the crickets or worms. I know he can see cause he will follow me around the room with his eyes. Couldn't get him to eat anything today. Couldn't find any blueberries, but got a few blackberries. He seemed interested but wouldn't open up more then to lick his lips. Now with the light not working. What am i gonna do, had to go all the way down town just to get this one. I hope I can see the sun tomorrow so I can take him outside. Poor Stanley. I just want him to be ok. :(

Sun is going to be really important if you have to go get a new light again. Problems can start happening after a week with no UVB on nearly all reptiles, for a baby I have no idea how detrimental it is. Im crossing my fingers for sun tomorrow.. for both you and me! It was cloudy all day today and Spike was super pissed that his outdoor time sucked.

Oh.. also.. even with cloudy sky I think some UV gets through, not sure if its UVA or UVB.. at least I know I still have to put sunscreen on my kids.. so as long as its not too cold.. maybe take him out anyway?

We need to know what device you are using to measure temp. I strongly suggest getting a temp gun. Temps are so freakin important. You don't have the temp right and you can be sure he will not eat.Take many pictures of your setup and all equipment being used so we can better help you.
Are the crickets your feeding him alive? It may be a good idea to put him in a smaller tank for feeding alone. How far away is the basking light from the basking spot and what wattage are you using? Be careful on this one. We use a 60 watt cause our distance is 8 inches from his spot.It gets to 105 which is good.I second getting the clear bulbs. You must get the UVB tubes ASAP.
please take some pics and post here

Also i would get to the vet asap. Could be as simple as dehydration. Could be lack of UVB and UVA.could be incorrect temps. You can also try phoenix worms in a small dish.My beardie has loved those since day 1 .They wiggle alot which gets their attention. You can also put the worms in water first and then put into your feeding bowl-this is called plumping. READ READ READ the forums and pay close attention to what the moderators say on this forum. They know what they are talking about and give advice that is very close to what the breeder i got Jericho from has said.

I believe the temps are right, I am using my husbands reef tank thermometer right now. It is sitting on the rock it says just over 100, peaked at 110 the other day when it was 87 outside. The cool side is about 80 consistently down to about 73 at night. I think it's the lack of UVB. As stated earlier in the posts, I got a light. It worked for a day, and Stanley even seemed happy with it. Next day dead. I got a Exo Terra Sol all in one 125w, I know it's not the one that is recomended on the forum, but for some reason can't get them in Canada unless I order online. Which is a bit of an issue for me. So back downtown to what, just exchange for another one of these and cross my fingers. Is the Exo Terra tube bulb ok, cause they have those. I know not to use the coil, which is another bulb that I've already bought cause the place that sold us Stanley said its the one everybody uses. I don't believe it's dehydration. He will lick water off his lips and even the berry juice. Nice day today so I plan on taking him out into the sun.

I would find a way to order the correct light online as well as a temp gun or atleast a two probe thermometer. Some cheap thermometers have been tested to be up to 20 degrees off. That is life threatening for a beardie. Probes are very accurate.

Exo Terra or anything else besides Zoo Med Repti Sun 10 and Arcadia 12% tube lights are not recommended. Have you tried calling various pet stores in your area? I tried and searched the websites of the pet stores in Vancouver. For the ones that listed their products, I didn't see any Zoo Med Repti Sun. Everyone sells Exo Terra Repti Glo, which is unfortunate. Petland does have some Zoo Med products. Maybe you could ask if they would order some for you?

If you have been using a glass thermometer or strip thermometer, you may have been measuring the air temperature instead of the surface temperature. You need an infrared temperature gun to know for sure. The surface temperature is MUCH hotter than the air.

Sorry to stick a question of my own in here... I have a digital probe thermometer, which was only about $8. Is that measuring the air? Is it an accurate measurement? Spike seems perfectly fine.. I was just curious because of your comments on thermometers and temps.

If you tape it down to the basking spot, it should be pretty close. But an infrared temp gun aiming 2" away from a particular spot would be more accurate.

Alot of people use probe thermometers and are fine. :) They are accurite enough to do what they need to do. Temp guns are nice, but I don't have one, as well as many others as well.

Have to use the Exo terra Repti Glo 10.0 that's the only thing I can get here. Not going to go through the hassle of getting someone that can order the other bulb for me, if this little guy is not going to eat. I took him out into the sun today for 45 min. Hope that helps. Even offered some Repti pellets that the beardies at the pet store were just gobbling up. I'm at my wits end.

So I was holding Stanley earlier and I think he was trying to poop. I'm thinking maybe he's impacted. He looked like he was straining. Was reading a bit about impaction and thought I would double check with you all. Can I feed him veg oil and apple juice/sauce through a dropper to help? I tried a warm bath for him, it seemed to help. What else can I do to maybe help him poop. Everything so far has been watery, and white. Since he hasn't really eaten much, wouldn't expect anything. How can such a little critter case so much stress. Going to go check on him again before the lights go out.

yes all those things your doing is correct. Also puting him on his basking spot for proper digestion will help. How big are the crickets your feeding him? Warm baths are a great idea. Many peoples dragons will only poop while in the bath. How long have you hade him and how many times has he pooped? If you could take a picture of his poop that would also be helpful.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
