Howdy! New to beardies and this forum!

yes, you need a uvb light. you'll want to make sure it's not over 6 months old. as far as the eating goes, that sounds about right given he's over a year old. as far as the sleeping goes, i have never heard of such a thing! i would think he would drown if his nose holes were covered too...

    New Beardie owner here

unfortunately most pet stores will give the wrong recommendations. they have guides that are given to them that they have to follow whether it's right or wrong. they don't seem too worried about trying to fix their problems. they will hire just about anyone, no experience necessary, so they...

    New Beardie owner here

at 4 months old your beardie is probably getting pretty big. your going to have to upgrade is enclosure. your temp gauge should be fine. what are your temps.? sometimes it's hard to get the cool side cool enough if your hot side is hot enough when you have a smaller tank. especially since...

New Baby! And a bit of confusion.

even though your little guy CAN eat the bigger crickets, it's not a good idea. as the last post said, you want to feed no larger than the space between the eyes. if you feed larger than he could end up with an impaction. heat rock is a no no. beardies can't determine heat from their...

    New Here

i just want to add one thing. you said about spraying the enclosure down, actually if you want to spray your dragon you should do it outside of the cage. if you spray inside the humidity could get too high and cause respiratory infections. so, as ozzie lady said bathing is best. also, look...

    new here!

do you know what your temps. are? i would think it would be hard to keep the enclosure warm enough since it is screen.

    Introducing Pixel!

looks like a pretty cool setup. what are your temps.? i know when my guys are cooler their colors are darker. maybe he's not warm enough. more than likely though he's just got a case of relocation stress. i see he's got the marks on his belly. did he have those when he was at the shop...

    grettings from so cal =)

alot of times at that age they don't eat very many greens, if any. just keep pushing, offer them everyday. i got mine to start eating them by adding a couple of waxworms on top. they see the movement and dive right in. they are bound to get a mouthful of greens. eventually he should start...

    grettings from so cal =)

do you have a UVB also? even though he is by a window, he's not getting any uv. they can't absorb it through glass. yes he will need multivitamins also. about 3 times a week. are you feeding crickets that you are finding? that's no good, they can carry parasites, and if he's a baby his...

hello peeps! need help preparin a home for my dragon

yeah, at that age the sand is fine. it's prewashed and sifted. just make sure for yourself there are no pieces of anything that shouldn't be. usually it's pretty good. did your friend use UV and supplements? what were his staple foods?

hello peeps! need help preparin a home for my dragon

for bedding you could just use shelf liner or even paper towels. if you want the sand look, don't buy the stuff in the pet store get play sand from Lowe's or Home Depot. You NEED a UVB light. Reptiglo 8.0 or a Reptisun 10.0 are the best unless you opt for an MVB. Which you may have to order...

    First time Owner seeking guidance!

someone else may be able to answer this better for you, but i think their flooring in the wild is still totally different than the sand you buy in the store. i think it's more of a dust or something? anyway, i know it's different than the stuff you buy. as far as everything else goes, sounds...

    I finally got my beardie!!!!!!

you don't really have to change anything during this time. misting everyday will help, so will baths. you only need to worry if they have an area that seems to not want to shed on it's own. all beardies are different as far as how long it takes, if it seems like the dragon is having a hard...

You may want to make sure of what the back problem is before you go investing in this dragon. Maybe she has MBD.

Hi, why is my belly spotted

alot of times the spots come when they are stressed or sometimes because their temps are a little low. are you keeping 2 bearded dragons in 1 10 gallon tank? that is definitely not enough room. that could be your problem. are you using UV? what are your temps?
