Hi everyone!
So, I do presentations at the Charlotte Nature Museum with my reptiles. I got an email about 2 months ago from a woman at the Nature Museum who had been contacted about a beardie.
This is where his story with me begins! I agreed to meet at the Nature Museum and pick him up. He...
For me, my beardie inspires more questions and less fear. The snakes however, are quite the opposite. Once people feel they are a safe distance away, they start asking a ridiculous amount of questions...
I officially love this thread. I totally feel closer to you guys because we all share similar experiences! :D
BTW, I also dislike the "Is that thing real?" question, but not as much as I hate someone referring to my beloved pet as a "thing". My answer is always an emphatical "Yes, HE is...
Lol, these stories are cracking me up...
At one of our grocery stores you buy collard and mustard greens by the individual leaf, so I only get enough to use before they go bad...The cashiers make me smile when they are like "And your total is...54 cents..." and then turn their heads :? ...
I would list this under for sale, or ask a moderator to move it. I would also add pictures cause it raises more interest. Good luck finding your lucky pooper a home!
Awesome plan! Welcome Clint! I've cracked my share of tanks, but never one that big, that must have sucked! It'll all work out when you get your first beardie.
I thought it would be awesome for us to share some stories or questions that non-herp people have said to us! I was telling a friend about my Beardie once and he asked me to tell him the name again... "Bearded dragon" Him: "What? It has like...hair? Like a beard???" I tried so hard not...
The morning feeding problems are most likely cause he hasn't warmed up and gotten ready for the day. It's recommended to feed them no earlier than 2 hours after their lights have come on and 2 hours before their lights go off, so they are warm enough to digest and have sufficient time to do so...
It does melt the polystyrene if you don't move it fast enough. You just gotta keep it moving, but it works great. You definitely won't use even a small bag of grout. I probably used about a half a quart of sealer...
Welcome to you and your whole crew!!! Number one piece of advice= use the google search at the top of the website if you have questions! It should help tons, and it's much faster than posting a thread and waiting around :D
I would go with a 40 gallon breeder tank instead of a 55. The Reptisun 10.0 needs to be a tube instead of the coil bulb, so you'll need a fluorescent fixture. They do need a hide, but I don't recommend cardboard because it can hold contaminants and will get easily ruined with poop...
Everything...
I wouldn't recommend an iguana for your situation. They are notoriously short tempered (there are exceptions of course). They do not like to be pestered (aka your dogs) and they could cause serious injury to them. Iguanas get monstrous!!! I'm with Grimleo on this one...I love Melissa Kaplan's...
