    The Adventures of Atlas 2.0!

So my original posts about Atlas were locked, probably because I left them alone for three months. I like how I boldly proclaimed that I would be better this time around. Turns out working full time is even more time-consuming than school  anyway, here's an update! My sweet boy Atlas is...

New to the forum! Also a first time beardie owner!

Charlie is adorable! If he doesn't like traditional greens (I know my baby isn't a fan) you might try nopales, the leaves of the prickly pear cactus. You can get them in most walmarts and they're very nutritious, not to mention super cheap. Feeders, on the other hand, aren't cheap at all lol...

Do YOU think Beardies Can Love You?

I absolutely agree that beardies don't have the capacity to love in the traditional sense, but I like to think Atlas is at least a little fond of me; what I mean is that he recognizes who feeds him and handles him every day. There is a marked difference in his behavior when I hold him versus...

    Atlas!

I know it's been like two months without a post, but I've just been so busy with school that I didn't have time to post any pictures! Hopefully I'll be better about this in the future :D Well, Atlas is now 5 months old, 15.5 inches, and doing spectacularly! We had our first vet visit last week...

    Newbie to bd.

Sand is a bad idea! Any loose substrate is bad because their's usually a pretty big risk for impaction. Not really sure what to do about the digging, though I did discover recently that Atlas likes to "dig" during bathtime! Maybe you could give that a try?

Here's a big view of the setup: And a few close-ups: His basking spot and branch in the background I really recommend this branch from PetSmart, Atlas loves it to pieces! And this is just a nice pic of his colors after bath time Keep us in the loop!!

    Atlas!

New adventures with Atlas! We went to PetSmart today with the roommate and he did great. Wasn't too impressed with the car, but he never once tried to escape. Him looking like a grumpy toad lol Motion machine Bath tiiiiiiiiime! He says "Moooom, quit it!" Who could that handsome...

    Preparing for my first Beardy

Hi Britney, and welcome! The best tip for handling them is to be patient, especially when they're little. Always approach slowly from the front and try to encourage him to walk onto your palm. If that doesn't work, then slide your hand under his chest and gently lift. My Atlas is a...

Worrisome new Mommy has a cricket count question!

I've been worrying about the cricket question for some time :/ I've had Atlas for almost two months, and I give him a dozen crickets in the morning along with lots of cactus and either collard greens or cilantro. He gobbles the crickets up and then chomps on a few pieces of cactus, but by the...
