BSFL are a great feeder insect if your lizard recognizes them as food and develops a taste for them.
I keep my BSFL in a tub with no bedding and do not feed them, the BSFL tub sits on the coffee table.
I'm currently buying my BSFL by mailorder online and usually buy 200 - 300 per consignment.
Feeding 2 hatchling bearded dragons, an adult eastern water skink (she is not a fan of them unless I "process them" for her, she likes the meat inside them but considers their outsides yuck.
My two adult eastern bluetongues refuse to eat them.
My previous adult bearded dragons only ate them if I literally put them in their mouths by hand.
My girl Cleo loves them ( will take them whole and wiggly (up to 8 in a sitting) , munches them up one at a time ) and I also "process the BSLF" for her as well (snip the maggots' heads off and squeeze out the meat to deposit on the lizard's snout and lips , Cleo will take up to 16 worms this way).
My boy Caesar is not a fan of the BSFL , he prefers his crickets to them and is insatiable when it comes to crickets (currently eating 25 day old aka 1/4 size crickets up to 10 in a sitting).
I also offer fresh salad (grated carrot + cut up buk choi greens - I cut a leaf with scissors into strips , Caesar loves his salad, Cleo is not so keen on it ATM).
Cleo likes her crickets to come to her , either by accident , or by hand by me. Caesar goes into a feeding frenzy when I drop his crickets to him 2 or 3 at a time.
And I started offering a small silkworm per day as well (up to 1" - 1.5" long) , Cleo likes silkworms , Caesar is not impressed with them and ignores his daily silkworm ATM.
