Hi all. Never in a million years did I think I'd get so excited about a lizard pooping in his bath before. Lol

I want to potty train him, so I'm super excited. He's only ever pooped i the tub once. I was hoping today was the day since its Saturday, since he hasn't pooped in about a week and since he ate about 14 supers for breakfast. Yay!!!!!

What a nice birthday present. For him. Lol. He's a year old roughly right around now.

The pics are great! especially the one that he fell asleep mid stride :D
Wow those boots are great. A little pricey but you would have both something new and blue all in one :p

Love the boots and can see how much weight Zilla has lost by seeing his back end. I'd let him sleep for only a couple of days & then feed him for a couple as much as you can, let him sleep, etc, as he needs the nutrition and you don't want him to lose anymore. Another thing you can give him, to add some protein & see if he likes it, is scrambled eggs, with nothing added, not oil or butter to cook it in, just plain, cool it off a bit & see if he likes it. There's nothing wrong with giving him eggs on occasion & he needs the protein, he might just like it!

Wow, wedding plans, will be waiting to hear what you guys plan. Exciting, but exhausting!

Thanks so much for the pics, Zilla is so cute with his butt sticking out of that hide & falling asleep on your lap mid stride. He definitely wants to bromate!

How did Zilla manage to fit in there? Never mind turn around.

I'm glad he's feeling better.
I have NO idea. That's why I had to lift the hide. He's so funny.

I will definitely try that. I'm desperate to find something he'll eat on his own to kick start his appetite.

And our wedding plans will be fairly low key. We've both been married before so won't go all out this time, but it will be as elegant as a low budget wedding will allow. I do know I want to be in a real wedding dress and would like the ceremony/reception to be somewhere unique in here in High Point. Will try to make a weekend or more out of it since we both have family and friends that are out of state. That's all the planning I've thought about so far. Lol

Maybe bearded dragons are like hamsters. Hamsters, no matter how fat, can squish themselves into the tiniest of areas and be a-okay. Maybe beardies can do that too.

Well he has lost a bunch of weight........ Lol.

The doctor called today, twice, to check on him. I told him I was letting him sleep for a few days and he thought that was fine. Everything I said, he agreed with me. He told me I knew him best...... I guess I have to agree with that since I'm the one that diagnosed him with an abscess AFTER two different doctors, three separate times, looked in his mouth. Good grief. I want to ask him for a refund. Lol. Joking. Kind of.

When we get home tomorrow afternoon, I will wake him and tempt him with bugs and salad and see what he does. Then a quick bath and bask and see what he decides to do.

I miss him, and he's only been snoozing since yesterday. :D

I understand, BrendaKay, I miss Rosie when she sleeps for days at a time, even tho we have Squirt to snuggle and take care of. We still miss Rosie and are happy when she wakes up.

Well, the little turd woke on his own before we got home. I checked the monitor a few times to see that he was inching towards his basking light. Which was off. Ugh. But we got home around three and I promptly ran into the house to tend to my beardie slave duties. I plopped him under the bulb, cleaned up the tiny little poop he did. Saw he smeared some on his tail so started to run some hot water and got his toothbrush out. Scrubbed at him a bit hen put him back under the light. He kept inching away from it, but when he finally felt warm I gave him a veggie slurry. I tried to keep him basking after that, but he kept inching away from it. After an hour or so, I took him out to snuggle and within a few minutes he was wiggling to poop on me. Lovely. But only a little bit of urate came out. He looked like he was straining, so we ran him a hot bath, and quite quickly he was attempting to push out poop, but nothing. Kept straining, but nothing. When he stopped I dried him off and put him under his bulb. He still won't bask.

I think it's time I demand an X-ray to see if there is an impaction.

I guess I'll hook up his CHE for the night since he didn't get a lot of heat today.

I just wish he was better.....

It's just going to take time Brenda, it took him a long time to get sick and they don't bounce back that quickly. At least you got the abcess taken care of. I think an xray is a good idea, & a re-check on that abcess to make sure it's really gone. He needs more protein, too, so try that scrambled egg tomorrow, see if he likes that. Barbara, a good friend who owns Zak 'n Wheezie (the 2 headed dragon that's 6 1/2 yrs old), when she makes hard boiled eggs, she takes the yolk of one & smashes into powder and adds it to their baby food. So you could do that & instead of a scrambled egg, add that to his slurry, 1/2 one day & 1/2 the next. That would give him great protein. You could do that every 2 weeks.

I'm glad he woke up on his own, he'll probably be up in the am and sleep in the pm, that's what a couple of mine do. And because he needs food, it's better for him to do that anyway.

Let me know what the vet says.

HUGS

I know you're right Deb. Thank you for the reassurance - I'm just impatient I guess. I want my dragon back! :p

I tried to tempt him with egg on Monday at lunchtime, but he snubbed it. I realized afterward that you said scrambled, and I boiled it. Duh! I guess I flashed back to my bird breeding days...... I would feed them smashed up boiled eggs, complete with shell.

I'll try again tomorrow if I come home for lunch. I'll be sure to SCRAMBLE it this time. DUH!

I couldn't wake him up enough Sunday or yesterday to get food in him. He would NOT open his mouth. Today I was not stopping til I got SOMETHING in him. I got maybe 2cc of veggie slurry into him. Tried to wash it down with grape pedialyte, but I think he got one swallow in. The rest dribbled out all over him and me.

This is so frustrating. I just wish I really knew what he needed. Sleep? More meds? X-ray? Surgery?

I have not made an appt at the vet yet, but will. Richard is convinced its a blockage, and I'm 50/50 about it. He poops a tiny bit, often. It still dribbles out. Just tiny amounts usually. Like dime sized. Sometimes I think he's blocked, sometimes I think he doesn't have anything to poop out because he's barely eaten anything!

Puff had me worried, too, so I put Carnivore Care (tbsp.) with a bit of hot water, mixed that up and added 3 tbsp. of Chicken with veggies. She lapped it all up for the last 2 days and today she ate 6 worms (I saw her do it!!!).

So what are you putting in the slurries?

I mixed all the different greens I had so they wouldn't go bad. I think this recent batch consists mostly of dandelion, bok Choy and collard. Went out to whole foods that day and got things I don't normally see in my regular food lion store. I added water to make the slurry and put it in the blender. Poured it all into three ice cube trays and froze it. Then put it In a Zip lock.

Now, I just have to thaw a cube and mix in pedialyte, vitamins, carnivore care, b12, a few shakes of - OMG, I just drew a blank - the white stuff you put on their food and dust crickets with when they are babies. OMG. It starts with a c I think. Woah, brain dead.

Anyway, I don't necessarily put all that in EVERYTIME, but definitely do the carnivore care.

CALCIUM POWDER! Good lord, that hurt. I guess I should go to bed. Lol

I'm tempted to add worms to the slurry, but I'd probably puke. Does anyone else blend bugs? Bleh

And I'm glad Puff is doing ok! Hopefully all her eggs are out and that she doesn't lay anymore!

Well it sounds great & full of nutrition, so you're going to have to force feed him a bit more, whether he likes it or not, he needs the nutrition. You could add chicken baby food to the mix, to, as you all the greens and he needs the protein, try a couple of tsp of chicken to see if he'll go for it.

Guess you just have to keep at him, he needs to eat. Are you taking him to the vet for an xray. I've taken Rubio and Puff this year, expensive but worth knowing what's going on in there. Might ease your mind as to if there's a blockage or not.

And no more eggs so far from Puss, so I'm hoping that's it...at least for a while.

Holy crap I just had a pure panic attack. I'm pretty sure Zilla stopped breathing, and was very near death. I fed him a veggie slurry as usual and washed it down with grape pedialyte as usual. The only thing I can gather is he wasn't swallowing during the feeding, and either some dribbled down his throat, or he swallowed to much at once and choked. I swear to God, he wasn't breathing and his eyes glazed over and started to roll back. I was trying to remember what to do, but in my panic I couldn't. I laid him flat, watched him, then held him head down and smacked his back. Nothing. Then held him head down again and smacked his chest/belly. He would stretch out his arms but it took a LONG time for him to take a deep breathe. I kept holding him with his head lower than his body, and even when I put him in his tank I kept him like that. He moved after around 10 minutes to the corner and when I picked him up again, he completely flattened out. I've never seen him so flat. He shook one arm as well, when I picked him up. Holy cow, I am just panicked there is something dreadfully wrong now.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
