Zilla RIP 3/2/14 : Started a new thread for Sid!

Hi all. Never in a million years did I think I'd get so excited about a lizard pooping in his bath before. Lol

I want to potty train him, so I'm super excited. He's only ever pooped i the tub once. I was hoping today was the day since its Saturday, since he hasn't pooped in about a week and since he ate about 14 supers for breakfast. Yay!!!!!

What a nice birthday present. For him. Lol. He's a year old roughly right around now.

It definitely helped my psyche with him here, that's for sure. He's so dang attentive! He's constantly watching us! His morning he pooped again and dragged his tail through it. Bath time! What a jumper. Luckily my sink is deep and he couldn't grab onto the granite. Hoping to potty train him, so hopefully he'll calm down in there.

Welcome Sid, oh he's perfect for you & so well taken care of. And his colours, wow :shock: eye popping. Looks like he's already made himself comfortable, so glad you found him. And being younger, too, will help. And so much more energy. There was definitely something off with Zilla, beyond the abcess in his mouth. I'm so glad you found Sid, will be good to have a really healthy beardie with you now.

I'm trying to give him his space to get used to is but it's hard to leave him alone!

This morning he gave me a black beard and that's only the second time I've ever seen one! Zilla only ever black bearded once, and rarely, if ever, stress marked. I wonder if he was to sick/weak to do that.

Anyway, I wonder if his black beard meant he had a tummy ache because when I came home to check on him there was some puke (I think) in the corner. It wasn't poop, it was half digested roach, worm and carrot from the day before. It wasn't a lot. He had pooped in the morning and I bathed him to get it off his tail. He's a good jumper! He jumped right out of the plastic tub!

After that he seemed fine and just hung on his log the rest of the day. I took him out when I got home and he just hung out. Put him back, covered him up to sleep and that's how he is now. Sleeping.

I'll post more pix eventually, still waiting for him to settle in.

Could have been the carrot, who knows. If it doesn't happen again, not to worry. And I'd handle him as much as you want, that's what's going to help him settle in more than anything else.

Thanks everyone. I thought maybe it was to soon to have gotten one, only nine days. But I don't regret it. He's on me now snuggling for night night. I lowered his light because I think with the screen on, I misjudged the temp and didn't let it register for the 45 minutes. He started gaping after awhile so that makes me happy. I'm think maybe that's why he threw up. Like he knew he couldn't finish digesting so puked instead. Tomorrow I'll be home most of the day I think so will see if I can coax him to eat. He hasn't eaten since Wednesday but probably just because he's still getting used to everything.

Did I mention his name was Beardo? Lol. We changed it to Sidney, Sid for short. He totally looks like a Sid.

So, should I start a new thread for him? Or just stay here?

More pix tomorrow. My sis and her hubby are here again for a few days. They stopped in last week to sleep since we are the halfway point between New York State and Florida. Now on their way home, they are spending a few days here.

If he wasn't used to eating carrots, that could be why he threw it up. He may not be up to digesting it yet.
Are the carrots shredded or sliced? Small shredded pieces may be better to start with, until his system gets used to the texture.

It's up to you if you want to start a new thread for Sid. Some people want to start fresh, not to be reminded of the beardie that had passed on. Totally your choice.

Just what Gina said, up to you if you want to start a new thread. If you keep this, you have a journal of Zilla, too, but either way this can be Zilla's journal & Sid has his own. I've kept my thread going regardless of what happened to any of my beardies, so have a journal I can refer back to if I want to,

He is a beautiful beardie & I wouldn't worry about eating for a few days, it's normal for older dragons to take a few days. I'd put easily digestible bugs and salad in his tank for now. Veggies can be difficult to digest.

The carrots were sliced. I actually put them in the dish with the roaches and he ate it at the same time. I won't do that again.

He snuggled a nice bit tonight and then did the Velcro thing when I went to put him back. Awwwwwwwwww..... So sweet.

Yeah, I'll prolly start a new thread soon.
