Hi all. Never in a million years did I think I'd get so excited about a lizard pooping in his bath before. Lol

I want to potty train him, so I'm super excited. He's only ever pooped i the tub once. I was hoping today was the day since its Saturday, since he hasn't pooped in about a week and since he ate about 14 supers for breakfast. Yay!!!!!

What a nice birthday present. For him. Lol. He's a year old roughly right around now.

If you can get him on a schedule, you may get more of those wonderful bath poops. I am on my 2nd potty trained Beardie
and think it's the ONLY way to go! The viv stays cleaner and she seems to be happier. She HATES poop in her viv!

:blob5: Congrats! Congrats! Congrats! :blob5: That's so exciting! It took Myah (my adopted adult) months to learn. Now, she's on a feeding/bath schedule. I now have custom flannel viv linners and only wash them for a "freshen up" This is the start of something great! Keep up the good work!

I bought tons of flannel and fleece to make him cozy things for the tank, so if he poops in the bath and not ON them, I'd be happy!

Congrats on your turd!!!

My little one won't go in the bath, however he has a set place very close to the glass on the hot side of his viv he leaves his deposits and even his shed skin! I guess he doesn't like a mess.

Funny creatures.

OK...showing what a Noob I am here.

Forty has poo'd in his bath water twice now. He seems to be starting to develop an every other day schedule for his bowel movements. His appetite is off, however - possibly due to preparing to shed.

Now, if I decide to potty train him, do I adjust his bath schedule to his pooping schedule? If he goes back to a daily poo schedule, should I adapt and give him shorter baths daily?

It does make for a much cleaner habitat for him!

Thanks ~ Stormwolfe

Hey SW - if he really seems to want to only go in the bath, he will probably hold it. He might even start scratching to get out when he has to go.

mine ONLY poops in the bath, seriously he wont go unless he cant hold it anymore, his bed time is 8 PM and he'll wait up to 7:30 before going, unless i just bring him to the sink where his bath is. intelligent little guy, i even completely rearranged his tank today and hes not stressed at all.
i also found something that helps him recognize food better.
what i do is to have a jar lid, and get some bug guts (ew i know:b) and use that as his food plate, and since he remembers the smell i can leave his food in there (dead or alive) and he will go when hes hungry

I think mine sees food easier when it's moving and in a white dish. When I put food in the silver dishes, I hold it up to his face and jiggle it with my finger til he sees it. Then I can put it down and he'll eat some on his own.

Congrats! Isn't it funny how excited we get over a simple act such as pooping in the bath :laughing6:

Love the way yours looks! Love the pattern too! I have a full bolt (two actually) of black fleece with pink Scottie dogs on it. Pretty cute! Right now I have a ton of squares cut up for blankies and towels, but I've made him a few nice triple thick mattresses too. Spoiled much?

Oooohhh! That does sound nice! :D fleece is an amazing choice for reptile because it never feels cold like cotton. Spoiled is the only way to go! Nothing makes me happier then when Myah actually seems to understand and enjoy little improvements. Such a fun ride! :D Your babe is gonna be in heaven.

Ugh. I didn't make it home at lunch to give him a bath to see if he'd poop in there again. I came home at 630 ish to that tell-all smell. He pooped on his new fleece that's wrapped around his tree.

Oh well. In the garbage it went. Luckily, I have tons of it. I had put 3 or 4 layers on the tree just for this purpose. When the top layer gets icky, untie it and wash it.

He gave me the stink eye big time. Had to wake him up, take him off of the tree, lay him on Mr. Alligator and cover him back up. Little booger. Lol

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
