Just thought we could start identifying things around the house that indicate a house full of beardies, i.e. You know you're living with beardies when...
while barefoot, you step on a thorn. When you remove it, it's actually a shedded beardie scale!

You know you're living with beardies when...
Crickets sing from all corners WITHIN the house!

You know you're living with beardies when...
Your refrigerator is full of worms and this is a very good thing, not a sign for a serious cleaning job!

I know there are many more ways that show others we are doing things a little bit differently! So, how do you know you're living with beardies?

...you go into cuddle withdrawal while your baby is recuperating from surgery. Dora had to get a rock taken out of her stomach on Monday and has stitches all up her belly. I'm not supposed to handle her, and I've made her tank smaller and taken out her furniture so she can't run around/climb anything. For her sake I've only been petting her while she's in the tank and holding her to feed her the liquid diet the doc gave us and her meds, as well as an injection of antibiotics.

...when you see leftover, unusable worms (when your beardie can't eat them for a few weeks) and decide to finally start your own colony... Anybody got any tips for starting a superworm colony? Food, substrate, containers, etc.? I found out that Petsmart was shorting me an average of 3 worms per purchase after I began keeping track of how many were in the tubs I bought. :evil: When 3 worms is most of a meal, that REALLY counts.

Your baby poops on you and your first thought is "Oh, it's a healthy one!"

You wake up after snuggling with your baby til you fall asleep, you know exactly where she'll be if she's not in bed.

When you get sick and start running a fever, you think "Good! I'll be the perfect temperature for them to snuggle on!"

You're STILL sick after a week and haven't bothered to clean your own house, have let the hubby fend for himself, have barely ventured out for your own food, but suddenly your babies need food and you're out the door and running faster than Flo Jo!

You husband gets a raise and you think "YAY! Beardie #3, here I come!" not, "Well, the car's automatic window motors need replaced!"

You go to show off pictures of feeding time and bath time, and people AREN'T shocked anymore when they see it's your dragons!

You're able to tell when one's ready to pick on the other and actually understands when you say "NO! Leave your sister alone!"

You come up short for groceries and put back items for you and your hubby, but the greens CANNOT go! What will the babies eat?! :lol:

When your best friend complains the beardies get more attention than she does! (I can't help it! That death stare bores through you...Like the one I'm getting right now from my boy He wants out)

YKYLWBW ... you go to show another parent at school a picture of your child on your cell, and you have to scroll past 98 pics for of the "other kids" before you get to the intended one! :shock: (she laughed, so I think we're ok)

YKYLWBW ... you see a nice flat pretty-colored rock, and your first thought is, "Oooh, that's the perfect basking rock for Xena"

You get sick and immediately check to make sure your beardie can't catch it, because you know you'll go into snuggle withdrawal if they can!

Your doctor tells you to "Get some rest." and your immediate response is "But my kids need me!" (This happened to me last time I got sick. My doctor said "WOAH! When did you have kids?!" I and told her I meant my dragons. She got a kick out of that one!)

When you KNOW what crickets and mealworms taste like (I was in New Orleans at the Audubon Society's Insectarium. There was an area where they had Chocolate Chirp Cookies, Sour Cream Cricket and Chive Dip, and Mealworms w/Taco seasoning, salt n pepper and sweet n sour flavoring. I tried the cookies, dip and taco flavored mealies. Quite good, actually )

You'll be absolutely sure you're living with at least one beardie when, after a long day, you have a particularly vivid dream in which your female beardie is speaking to you in the voice of Morgan Freeman. I've had several dreams where Dora is speaking to me, and always with Morgan Freeman's voice. The first time it happened she was just shouting for worms...but in this most recent one we discussed the nutritional value of her diet and why I need to shove a syringe down her throat every day (she's recovering from surgery after swallowing a big rock), despite the fact that we both hate having to do it.
