Okay...since many of us have expressed an interest in ordering blanket(s) from you...have orders started actually coming in yet? I'd be happy to place and prepay my order ASAP so that you can have money to help with the surgery. Just tell me what we can do to help.

You guys are in my thoughts and prayers.

Yes, I have gotten a couple orders already -- it takes me a few days to make the blankies, with back and forth between embroidery machine, sewing machine, and washing the special embroidery stabilizer away... I hate taking money before the blankets are done, because I can weigh the final blankie for exact weight for shipping. I don't want to estimate and overcharge someone. (JMHO)

I have just dug thru every coat pocket, my changepurse, the ashtray in the car, and the couch cushions. I did find $103.65 total in coins. So its already baggied up, he's going to have a cow if I walk in there with coins like that. But so be it. Our vet has been so great over the years, and I understand its a business for him, but I was so heartbroken when he wouldn't offer a discount, seeing as how her bills have already run pretty high.

I'm off to count the pennyjar next to the piano. Its pretty big, cross your fingers...

Well I am going to want to order 4 blankets. I could paypal you the cost of the blankets--which I do not need right now just at some point before Christmas! Then when life settles down I could get the shipping information for/from you and finish up the order. I truly don't mind.

If you can send me your paypal address I will get the order placed and that will give you a little more money to help with her medical care. In addition to beardies I have horses and I had one get a horrific injury to one of her legs that cost me more than $500 for the vet + 3 months of serious wound care. So I feel your pain--both emotionally and financially! I try to have money set aside for emergencies with them...but even that fund runs low sometimes!

You know you guys all have me in tears! I cannot believe some of the friendships I have made in the last two years here. Nowhere but this community understands how these little lives weasel their way into our hearts.

I just got off the phone with one of my childhood friends, and she is going to loan me whatever it takes to make up my difference, she knows how I love my dragons. We found another jar of coins in our bedroom, we had forgotten about it because it was shoved into a corner. That makes up a couple hundred too.

So with my friend lending me the big chunk (her husband owns a local car dealership) I can use all the blankie proceeds to pay her back in pieces. My heart is so heavy with worry about Xena, she is such a cuddlybear, it is breaking my heart to see her in pain. If you're not familiar with her life story, we rescued her two years ago on Dec 22nd -- she was a craigslist rescue. They were only feeding her 2x a week. She was so scraggly, and thin, and scared. And the night we went to see her was the coldest night that month. It was about -20+ with windchill, and the heater in our van went out on the trip to get her. I was scared we wouldn't make it home with her.

She has come such a long way. And she is family.

I understand how scared you are! I would worry that, even if I had enough $ for the surgery, it wouldn't help. I hope everything goes o.k. with her. I don't post on here that much but I do keep my eyes on it so I can know what's going on with her.

Thanks, Lori, I know, you're always so QUIET! :love5: But I know you probably remember when we brought her home, it's hard to believe its the same dragon when I look at pics from 2008 of her. She has really come a long way.

When I talked with her doc today, he confirmed that surgery would definitely entail removing her oviducts so we would NOT have to go thru this anymore. Obviously, since she has never mated, and she is over 5, her body is just having an impossible time with eggs.

She is in her viv with the lights out, still with her tail raised and trying to push. The Metacam didn't seem to work as well today. I know that tail muscle has got to be tired & sore, she has that big fat beautiful tail. Her bum just looks so bad, it brings tears to my eyes. Bring on the caffeine, round 3...

Oh Dawn, I am so sorry Xena is having such a rough time of it. I know it is not only taking a toll on her, but you and your family as well.
What a wonderful friend you have that will lend you the money for your little girl's surgery. I will keep you and Xena in my thoughts and prayers.
Big ((HUGS)) to all of you!

There is a post under the "For Sale" section for ordering blankets. I just ordered 4. Some beardies are going to have very nice Christmas gifts under the tree! LOL

Dr. Riggs agrees this morning that meds to induce labor (for lack of better terms) would not do her any better, could actually cause her more harm at this point. Eggs have dropped with all her pushing last night. Organs are smooshed, and she is close to prolapse, but NOT prolapsed. Waiting until Monday to take her could have had a bad outcome, so he is glad we brought her in this morning.

He has her in an incubator to stabilizer her temps and prep her for surgery... will let you know as we know how she is.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
