WOW... can we say ROACHES??????

Ok, so I ordered roaches from BoonBear, and they showed up today - 500 + AND, Dawn send me a BUNCH that showed up today too!!! WOW!!! I think there were like more than a 100? Im not counting though LOL!!

Can we say INSTANT colony? In fact, one of the females was laying eggs as I took her out of the box! :shock: :lol: :lol: :lol:

On top of that, someone ELSE offered me a bunch for free and they should be here by this weekend!!!!

Good thing Im used to these critters.... they're EWWWWW factor is fading fast!!!

Now if my darned crickets would STOP breeding! They are breeding without me ever having any intention of them breeding! LOL

YAYY!!! That is a great way to establish an instant colony. All of those different bloodlines will make a happy and healthy colony. I have some "new" ones coming too!

Oh boy do they EVER!!!! I gave Astarte her first one tonight.... she RIPPED it from the tongs I was feeding her with! Then she had 2 more! LOL

NEVER have I seen this reaction to crickets! My beardies are in HEAVEN with these roaches!!!!

crickets SUCK so bad. i hate mine. i only got like 6 dozen yesturday an the box already stinks an even though they are in the other room im listening to them right now as i type out of site does not meen out of mind when you like in an extremly small 1bed room appt lmao but this fall when i get the rest of my army bonus im gonna start a colony of roaches an ill be buying from people on the site an breeders so i have plenty of blood lines im so excited oct 26 can not come fast enough lol

I just got my roaches from Boonbear wednesday!!!!! OMG i thought i'd be "ok" with them.... eeeewwwwweeeee. lol i don't have my beardie yet so i haven't had to handle them at all except take them out of the box which i made my fiance do. i was fine when i saw the nymphs.... then a big mamma jamma crawlled to the surface, OMG! LOL but hey, like i've told others, they don't jump on my like crickets would so that's all the reason i need to go roach! plus the lack of smell, quietness and basically leaving them to their business... Enjoy your roaches! Hope your and my colonies thrive!!!!

You guys will get used to them real quickly. Blaptica Dubia aren't one of the "roachie" roaches. And they're quite small compared to some other species of feeders such as hissers and Giant Cave Roaches. Before you know it you be sticking your hand right in there grabbing a handful of them!

The other thing that I personally like about B. Dubia and Bearded Dragons is that Adult Beardies LOVE the Adult Male roaches. They look like they'd be a little too big to feed BUT they are EXTREMELY soft. The hardest part of them is the shell protecting their head. The rest of their body is quite squishy! Never have to worry about impaction.

not to hijack...

opened up my bin today to make sure there was enough cat food and cereal. I'm going to the store tomorrow for some viagra... um i mean oranges... lol anyway, i spotted a dead one right in the middle of the pile of food. this prompted me to "carefully" move my egg crates around a tad and there were a few dead ones. I didn't take them all out to count because i saw it said to leave them be. Just want to make sure that i'm not doing something wrong.

rubbermaid bin w/ cut hole on top/screened.
cat food/dry cereal although all the dry cereal (lucky charms lol) is gone!
water crystals... the pet store had cricket drink w/out calc, but they said it would work. jar said for crickets, spiders, etc...
egg crates stacked like IIIIII
heat pad under the egg crates
therm on the cool/food side says 85.

I'll check but there shouldn't be. it's a brand new set up and i haven't sprayed water into the bin for fear of mold. i just got roaches/set up on Wednesday.

Hmmmm....were the dead ones adults? Some times they just die of old age of course but to have a few like that........

shouldn't be mold.......i mist all the time and have never had a mold problem----but i do keep my colony in an aquarium instead of a rubbermaid----still, shouldn't be mold.

hmmm, i don't know how to answer that. it was about 1 in long or so. it wasn't my HUUUUUUUUGE ones i've seen, but big enough for me. lol i'll take a picture and post up in a bit. maybe you all can help me out! like i said, a few as in like 3-4 that i could see. i didn't want to disturb the crates. but maybe i should to make sure???? Thanks for the help! and sorry to the OP for hijacking the thread!!!
