YES she/he will calm down. I am assuming you got a new little baby...? If you got it from the PetStores it was probably not handled much and you're stuck doing all the taming work. Babies from breeders tend to be a bit calmer and easier to deal with!
What you are combatting is the babies natural instinct of self preservation. One tip I can give you is that their natural predator in the wild is BIRDS, and they have a parietal eye on the top of their heads that senses light or the absence of light. What this does in the wild is tells them when there is a shadow that crosses over their heads so they can be aware that a bird may be flying above them, and they will naturally get startled or run when they detect a shadow over them. This could be his reaction to your hand coming from above.
In time, over the next month or two, he will settle down. You just need to patiently work with him, move slowly and handle him slowly, carefully and gently.
